REMINDERS OF OUR YOUTH

Good gracious guys, it has been a while since my last post. I have just been so hectically busy at work and no longer working nightshift puts a damper on my writing schedule.

This weekend I went through my old external and I found quite a few gems - that have been long forgotten and brought back tears to my eyes (ok I know what you are thinking, but it was an episode with the death of one of my most beloved characters) - so it was manly tears.

How many of us remember the old days, ok so I'm only 24 and my old days are not so old but remember the shows from way back when, when tv was still funny and entertaining.

I caught an episode of Angel one of the most watched cult classic shows which ended in 2004 - the episode - number 12 of season 5 "You're welcome" Cordelia makes her return after season 4 and puts Angel back on track. The entire episode I was like - awesome Cordy's back and at the end she's gone, and you feel the pain and sorrow - and now I ask you which new show has given you the same kind of sorrow? The answer - none! Because there are none.

Grey's Anatomy was awesome - I watched the first three seasons and then it dropped off the radar, after the death of Denny they could do absolutely nothing else to top that and as such I have tried watching it again but it falls flat every time.

Now I'm not saying all the old shows are better than the new shows but you cannot argue that Cheers is way better than Arrested Development or that Seinfeld and Frasier are better than Beverly Hills 90210 or Melrose Place! But there are some exceptions to the rule, look at shows like, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Mentalist, Chuck and Supernatural and there is no comparison.

There are so many shows that have been created - but only for one season and then cancelled because of a fickle audience! Look at this new show called Endgame - a genius chess player becoming a detective with agoraphobia! All I can say is - SEEN IT! Remember Monk?

Lately it has become so bad for me - I don't watch any show on tv - I only watch either dvd's or downloaded shows as there is nothing good on tv!

et's hope some of the old rubs off on the new and tv becomes a lot better!

HARRY POTTER & DEATHLY HALLOW PART 1 MOVIE

Wowza,

I went to watch HP two days after the big release and and have only now decided to put my disgust into words for the world to read.
What an utter bunch of crap - this was the worst HP movie, as it differed from the book the most. I am and will always be a true Pottonian and believe that with the right producer the movies could have been a major success. If these movies had to stand on their own without the book in the background - they might have succeeded but I believe it is only because of the genius of the book that everyone fell in love with them and did the movies become such a success.

Let's begin at the beginning - wow, it was such crap I can't even remember the opening scenes. Let's start with the seven Potters - this was comedic and at least the same as the book but what followed was disgusting. The death of Mad-Eye Moody, one of the most beloved characters was brushed aside as if it was nothing - in the book you felt the pain of everyone sitting around, drinking Fire Whiskey and Harry trying to boost moral in the time of crisis, but I guess it was too much to ask from the movie version, and then while still on the Mad-Eye topic - when the trio infiltrated the Ministry, where was the part where Harry took Mad-Eye's eye out of Umbridges door and buries it in the woods?

Onto Bill Weasley - wtf? He looks less than nothing like he is described in the book - an exotic curse breaker for Gringotts my arse - he looks like an Alfalfa more like. And what is up with the weak ass scar on his face? Did he accidently cut himself shaving?

Overall the film had a few comedic elements but in the most it was a bust - some of the things in the film just didn't clutch for me and for most of the Pottonians as well. Looking at all the deaths in the movie - it was as if they just breezed over the deaths as if the person/s meant nothing. Some might say the way Hedwig died was more dignified but I feel cheated - the fact that Harry had to blow up his sidecar with Hedwig dead inside created that bit of extra pain for Harry but I guess we should be lucky it was not so in the movie as Daniel cannot pull off the emotional vibe to save his life. Dobby's death was at least the same as in the book - which standardized it but the voice of Dobby was wrong and Daniel's emotion did not catch that wave of anguish it reaches in the books.

Now one of the biggest irritations in this movie was when Harry and Hermione danced a jive after Ron left - WHAT THE FUCK?!!!! She is supposed to be so emotional that the does not eat or sleep - just cries for days on end. This is one gievious error that I cannot forgive.

As for the actors - Daniel went from bad to worse but the chemistry between Ron and Hermione was undeniable and entertaining. Both Rupert and Emma steal the show as well as carry it most of the time but sadly enough in my eyes it is not enough to truly create the magic that is Harry Potter!

Let's hope the final installment won't dissapoint, but I have a sinking sensation when watching the previews so I will not be holding my breath!

Hey guys and gals,

It's been a while since I have been on - but my muse has left me and I feel the tinge of sadness and regret in all I write lately. It is asif my inspiration left and it's crazy because I actually have so many things running around in my head.

I cannot wait for the end of the year - it is like the beacon of hope at the end of a long dark tunnel of which my life has become! At the end of november I will be getting 35 days worth of overtime pay and then the 11th of December its my birthday and then it CHRISTMAS! After Chirstmas a major new years blow out (because I had to abandon my friends last year for work) and then helping my grandparents move out of their house where they have lived for the last 12 years then helping my mom move out of our old house and then I AM MOVING TO CAPE TOWN at the end of January!

At this point the fact that I will be abandoning everything I have going on up in JHB and moving to Cape Town is the only thing sustaining me through the 12 hour shifts I have to work at my current place of employment everyday! But as they say "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" so let it be!

Henry enters the room from up stairs holding his back

HENRY: Morning dad
ED: Why are you walking around like you’re in your third trimester?
HENRY: I’m about to push a giant complaint through a tiny opening! That cot is really uncomfortable
ED: You’re too good for that cot now? A navy buddy of mine died on that cot
HENRY: That would explain the big dark stain at the neck
ED: It’s not at the neck, I turned the bed around
HENRY: Quite a guest room, you’ve got there dad

Henry walks into the kitchen while talking

HENRY: Did you hear that noise coming from the garden this morning? It sounded like two animals fighting
ED: It was – me and a raccoon. I caught him trying to eat one of my cucumbers, I grabbed him by the tail and wind milled him into the shed – let him think about what he has done! Anything else you wanna complain about?
HENRY: I’m not complaining, it’s not what I’m doing. Garden looks great, cucumbers are huge, it’s like the land of the lost out there
ED: You should see my zucchini
HENRY: I think I did, last night, when you opened the door in your jammies
ED: Your brother and Bonnie are stopping by, to drop off some groceries and say hi
HENRY: Great, um, do you know how long they’re gonna be staying? I was hoping you and I could get some one – on – one time
ED: Why? Wanna braid each others hair and talk about boys?

HENRY: No, it’s not that, it’s just, I wanna, it doesn’t matter! What’s with the driver’s manual?
ED: Ugh, my license expires when I turn 72 next week, and they make me take the whole damn test again. If I don’t pass, I loose my license for five years
HENRY: Well, look, worse comes to worse, we’ll get you a bike; it’ll keep you in shape
ED: A bike? Take a look out that window; does this look like Bangkok? I’m not getting on any bike

Bonnie and Vince enter the house – Bonnie & Vince each holding a grocery bag

BONNIE: Knock, knock
ED: Shut the door
BONNIE: How bout hi?
ED: Hi, shut the door

Vince closes the door

HENRY: Look at this, San Diego’s king and queen of condos
VINCE: Come on, it’s not like we have three town houses in escrow, because we have four
BONNIE: Including one that had a murder in it – whazzup!

Bonnie and Vince do a weird hand gesture with each other

BONNIE: No, Ed, don’t get up for your daughter in law, I’m just holding 20 pounds of your groceries
ED: Did you get my fibre bars?
BONNIE: Yes!
ED: Did you get my fibre bread?
VINCE: Of course!
ED: Did you get my high fibre pasta?

Ed re-enters the living room

BONNIE: I see the manual is out, I’m glad you’ve been studying
ED: Yeah, I haven’t studied yet, it’s hard to retain. You get older, the stuff you wanna keep in you, flows out of ya and the stuff that you wanna flow out of you stays in ya
BONNIE: Lovely sentiment, um, I’m sure you’re gonna pass Ed.
ED: Well I have to pass, cause if I don’t I won’t be able to drive, and I’ll be stranded out here all by myself
VINCE: Pop, you can always live with us, right pumpkin?
BONNIE: I’m sorry, what now?
ED: Well, that’s something to think about
VINCE: Where you going?
ED: Where I do all my thinking

Ed goes into the bathroom

BONNIE: You crazy, you just asked him to move in with us?
VINCE: Sweetheart, come on relax, it’s just something you say, he’s never going to take us up on the offer
BONNIE: Well what if he does, can you imagine him living in our condo? Think about it; think about our sex life, all the high pitched squealing, and all the weeping. You wouldn’t be able to do that anymore!

Bonnie & Vince go into the kitchen and join Henry at the table

BONNIE: So what happened with the job?
HENRY: Magazine went under, I got laid off. I’m broke. Went through all my savings and now I have to borrow money from dad and I don’t know how I’m gonna do it
VINCE: What’s the big deal, just ask him
HENRY: I keep trying, but every time I’m about to ask him, I, I just feel like I’m going to disappoint him
BONNIE: Henry, he’s your father. Of course you’re going to disappoint him, Mother Theresa would disappoint him
HENRY: She did, remember when he met her, Vince. He said it was like talking to fig wrapped in a napkin
VINCE: I don’t see what the big deal is? You disappoint him, so what? I disappoint him every minute of every day
HENRY: It’s different for you Vince, you grew up with dad, I don’t have a relationship with the guy
VINCE: Is that what you want?
HENRY; I didn’t think so, but then I see him and yeah I guess I do. Just wish he gave a crap
VINCE: Henry, what exactly are you looking for?
HENRY: Anything, just something to show he wants a relationship with me.

HENRY: Just a gesture, any kind of gesture

Fade out and back in – outside of the house – music playing in the background

Ed is sitting in his chair, listening to his record player and Henry enters from the kitchen

HENRY: Okay, dishes are done. I swept the floors, wiped down the counters so they look nice, nice, nice, and nice. I need to disinfect.
ED: Son! Sit down the house is clean enough. We didn’t accidentally kill a hooker, we had brunch
HENRY: You know what, you’re right. Hey, how about we study for you driving test?
ED: Good.
HENRY: Alright, okay. Your involved in a minor traffic collision with a parked car, and your unable to locate the owner, you must a) …
ED: What part of town am I in?
HENRY: I don’t know, downtown. It’s not that important
ED: I don’t like downtown, it smells of motor oil and hummus
HENRY: Fine, then you’re at the store down the street
ED: Which store, the one with the slow kid who works in produce?
HENRY: No the other one
ED: No, I like the one with the slow kid. He knows his vegetables
HENRY: Dad, you were a navy doctor, you performed surgeries in war zones. Why can’t you focus?

{Music becomes pronounced again}

ED: Go on, I’m focused
HENRY: No, it’s the song

HENRY: Would you stop looking for reasons to be disappointed in me

HENRY: What reasons? I did everything right. I did well in college, I got a good job at a magazine. The thing went under and yes, I got laid off. I got college loans to pay, so what if I need a little help. Newsflash dad, so does half the country!
ED: You know what son, I’d have had more respect for you if you had just come right out and told me what you needed like a man. If I wanted somebody to be nice to me for money, I would have rented out the back room at the reeking oyster.
HENRY: That is so typically you. You love to be needed dad. But when somebody actually needs you, you loose respect for them.
ED: Which brings me to my original question – what do you need?
HENRY: What do I need? I need a dad that would for once, just once, let me walk out of his home without feeling worse than when I walked in
ED: You’re being dramatic!
HENRY: Dramatic! I haven’t seen you in two years, you don’t even give me a bed to sleep on. You put me in the attic, on a tiny cot that has a bloodstain, that is a bloodstain right, I need to hear you tell me that is a bloodstain – don’t tell me!
ED: I treat you no differently than anybody else
HENRY: Exactly! I’m not anyone else, I’m your son. You’re supposed to build me up, not tear me down

HENRY: I guarantee that if you actually took him up on the offer, they’d freak
ED: You’re wrong!
HENRY: They wouldn’t know what to say. It would just be gibberish coming out of their mouths
ED: You don’t know what you’re talking about. And let me give you a piece of advise, if your gonna kiss my ass for money, at least put on a nice shade of lipstick!
HENRY: I don’t even know what that means! And is that really the only reason you think I’m here, for money?

Henry looks crazy; eyes go wide and cannot believe they are having this conversation

ED: Am I wrong?
HENRY: No, dad you’re not wrong. You’re right! You’re always right! You know what you’re reward is for being right? Being alone! And I’d keep an eye on your cucumbers, I let the raccoon out.

Henry goes to the front door and opens it. He closes it again and moves away quickly

HENRY: He’s on the front porch and looks pissed, so I’m going out the back door

Henry leaves through the back door and leaves Ed standing in the living room alone, pondering what was just said

Fade back in – living room
Ed, Vince and Bonnie seated drinking coffee

ED: You know Henry said something this morning that got me thinking, all alone out here, rattling around in this old house. I thought I’d maybe sell the place, take you up on your offer and come live with you, what do you say?

Vince & Bonnie both freeze and looks shocked – mumbling ensues

ED: I’d take the guest room, in the back of the house, you won’t even know I was there

More mumbling ensues

ED: I’d help with the mortgage payments and my share of the household expenses

More mumbling

ED: Although, I can’t leave this house, my things are here, my garden is here so thanks for the offer but I’m not going to come and live with you
BONNIE: Aah, are you sure Ed? We have that extra room

Fade out

Fade back in – DMV offices

OFFICER: Can you tell me what the top most image is?
ED: Two squirrels fornicating. What the hell does it look like, it’s a gigantic E
OFFICER: And the line below that?
ED: Why do I have to keep identifying letters? I’ve been driving for sixty years and I’ve never been rear ended by a gigantic E!
OFFICER: Clearly you’ve never driven down Sesame Street

Cut back to later – still at the DMV offices. Ed has taken his test and is being marked

OFFICER: Uh, uh, uh. Ooh! Aaw!
ED: Aaw!
OFFICER: Would you look at that, you failed by one teeny tiny point. That is such a shame. Guess we won’t be seeing your pleasant face for another five years
ED: What do you mean, I failed?
OFFICER: Yeah, maybe you can get one of those motorized scooters my morbidly obese aunt uses! Next!
ED: You can’t fail me, I’ve gotta be able to drive
OFFICER: Oh I can! Kinda my job. But I’m sure you’re surrounded by people who love you and are dying to drive you where ever you want to go, given that you are such a delight. Next!
ED: I don’t have any people
OFFICER: Oh, come on.
ED: No I have no one. Boy I have really screwed up
OFFICER: It’s just a driving test
ED: I’m not talking about the driving test, I’m sorry I was rude to you, you didn’t deserve it. You’re just doing your job; you seem like a perfectly nice homo – sexual
OFFICER: I’d like to think that I am
ED: I’ll let you get on with your job
OFFICER: Wait! Don’t you have any family that can drive you to where you need to go? Any kids?
ED: Yeah, but I’ve screwed that up too. Well, I’ll let you carry on
OFFICER: Wait! Can’t believe I’m doing this.

He pulls out Ed’s test again and corrects it

OFFICER: Oops, here. 71 you passed
ED: Thank you
OFFICER: You know, my dad screwed up with me, then you know what happened – he fixed it. That’s the thing no matter how old your kids get, it’s never too late to be a dad

Ed takes something from his pocket

ED: Here, I’d like you to have this
OFFICER: What is it?
ED: It means a great deal to me, they gave it too me in ‘Nam for sowing a guys sack back on

He clips the pin on his jersey

Fade out

Fade in – outside the house – flash to inside

Ed sitting in his chair – presumably the next day eating his cereal – Henry enters

ED: Henry!
HENRY: Hi dad
ED: You wanna come and sit down? Have a bowl of grape nuts? Got a little gift for ya
HENRY: Honestly, I don’t want anything. I just came by to get my stuff. I’m leaving, um, my buddy is going to let me crash on his couch
ED: Where?
HENRY: L.A!
ED: When?
HENRY: Now!
ED: Why?
HENRY: Because!
ED: I seeeeeeeeeee!
HENRY: So I’m going to get my stuff now
ED: Ok

HENRY: Ok!
ED: Sure you don’t want to stick around and have a bowl of grape nuts?
HENRY: I can’t
ED: Why not?
HENRY: I’m going
ED: Where?
HENRY: L.A
ED: When?
HENRY: Now!
ED: Why?
HENRY: Because
ED: I seeeeeeeeeeee! You know, you might wanna stick around, you might like what I got you
HENRY: You’re not getting it. This isn’t happening. It was a bad idea for me to come here; I was looking for something that doesn’t exist, so now I’m leaving. I don’t want anything from you. Enjoy you’re life
ED: Fine! You’re gonna go – go! For the record I never really got you a gift
HENRY: I never asked for one

Knock at door

ED: I didn’t you get one.
HENRY: Fine

Doorbell rings

ED: I didn’t hear that either. Good luck Henry
HENRY: Dad, why aren’t you answering the door?
ED: Which door?

Knock at door

HENRY: Oh my goodness, I’ll get the door

Henry opens the door. There are two guys outside holding a mattress

M/GUY: I got a mattress delivery
ED: Wrong house
M/GUY: And Ed Goodsen doesn’t live here
ED: Very common name
M/GUY: Eddison Milfred Goodson the third
ED: Somewhat common name
HENRY: Dad, is this the gift?
ED: No, they’ve obviously made a mistake
M/GUY: Card says “To Henry enjoy this gift, Dad”
ED: This is getting very eerie!

HENRY: Dad, why did you get me a bed?
ED: You were complaining about the bed, so I got you a bed
HENRY: For what?
ED: Too sleep
HENRY: Where?
ED: Upstairs
HENRY: When?
ED: Tonight
HENRY: Why?
ED: Because
HENRY: I see! Dad, is this you’re way of asking me to live here?

SHIT MY DAD SAYS - SEASON 1 EPISODE 1

Wow I was surprised with this show, it is entertaining, comedic and with that something that everyone enjoys! With just this one first episode to work off of the rest of the season should be brilliant if they continue in this line - let's hope they keep the streak alive and don't drop the ball after only a few episodes.

Henry played by Jonathan Sadowski is a writer who gets laid off from the magazine he was working at and has to move in with his father, a retired navy medic portrayed by the always enigmatic William Shatner while he tries to rebuild his life and career in the process so with that hilarity ensues!

It is a thrill ride of laugh a minute jokes and I believe if done correctly it might just become as big as How I Met Your Mother, but then again with William Shatner in the lead who would be able to dispute that fact.

Intriguingly enough Jonathan Sadowski doesn't stay in Shatner's shadow, he brings his own element into the show which might even rival that of the great Shatner. Using such a unknown actor was a big gamble but I believe it has payed off - the barbs between the leads are brilliantly written and even better coming from the chemistry between these two.

The brother and his wife are a bit overdone, but comedic none the less and all shows should have more than two characters but with the two leads as they are - it couldn't be better. I was laughing at almost every joke and had to wipe the laughing tears from my eyes more than once.

Absolutely brilliant - a solid 9/10

HIMYM - SEASON 6 EPISODE 1

With the start of season six, I had very high hopes for another absolutely brilliant episode, but alas, it turned out to be only mediocre with the odd dash of brilliance!

I was surprised as the build up to this episode had been brilliant and then a let down, but I guess my problem stems from the lack of a brilliant Barney-ism! The only part was the fantasy sequence going on about the dibs Barney had called on the girl at the bar that ends up marrying Ted.

The Marshall and Lily line was a continuation of the previous season, but I expected to see her pregnant as they had jumped a few months into the future. Marshall was screaming his lines too much, which seems to be a common occurrence from the previous season, a bad habit forming!

Robin pulled off the ugly ducking thing amazingly, but the rant she went on after the guy at the bar hit on her (kind of like her victory dance) was really disturbing and as a name sake, I am deeply disappointed!

The Barney-ism that made me laugh was when Barney turned around to look at the girl at the bar that had piqued Ted's interest - the look on his face was hilarious. And the only other part was the high six between him and Ted, I have got to try that one out!

Rachel bilson made a reappearance and looked as fine as ever, and man oh man the girl on girl kiss between her and the girl at the bar, my ears just turned red!

I would recommend give Barney a few new catch phrases and for him to use his signature one some time in the episode! So "Suit up!"

I give this episode a solid 6.5/10

CHUCK - SEASON 4 EPISODE 1

This week has seen the start of quite a few new seasons of all our favourite shows, and one of them is none other than Chuck starting with season 4.

Chuck and Morgan go off on their own spy mission to try and find Chuck's mom and so they travel around the world looking for her only to return to Los Angeles, broke and without finding her. Chuck's car gets repossessed and he has to find a job to pay off all their traveling debt, but General Beckman sabotages all his interviews and forces him to rejoin team Bartowski and work for the new Buy More that is solely under the guardianship of the CIA and NSA as the task center.

As Chuck and Morgan go off to try and find more information on Chuck's mom, Sarah and Casey head off to Venezuela to discontinue Volkoff Arms manufacturing and stop a EMP device that is very potent from falling into the wrong hands. But on route Sarah and Casey get kidnapped and it's up to Chuck and Morgan to rescue them.

One of the highlights of this episode is the Sex'ting premise that Morgan introduces - and the posing of Sarah on the plane is more than enough to get any red blooded males blood pumping!

It was not one of the strongest opening episodes of the shows entering the realm this week - but I give it a solid 7/10 for trying and the premise! Let's just hope they can build from here and grow from strength to strength.

NCIS - SEASON 8 EPISODE 1

What another brilliant start to what has the inkling of being another awesome season of NCIS! After what some might say the best season so far the premier of season eight certainly did not disappoint!

I must say I enjoyed the comic element of Mike in this episode, even though he did not shoot anyone. Did anyone else see the start of Gibbs's beer belly as he was running to his car after finding the doll on Abby's car?

Ziva is still looking hot - and her retort about her not having tan-lines really got the blood boiling in the right direction! Anyone who still believes Kate ousted Ziva in the hotness, coolness or any other factor, must really have their heads read!

Abby seemed to have lost her sparkle - she was always the life of the show, her energy made you jump up and down with her. I think she needs a few Caf-pows before the next episode! McGee is as always his normal self - but i do have to comment on his weightloss, I think he should just gain five pounds because he has really lost quite a lot - but speaking as a slightly overweight guy - Well done!!

But intriguingly enough they left us with just enough to shout out loud - WTF!!! Who did Eli David find and who was Leon Vance looking for? I have racked my brains and I cannot figure out who it might be - unless it has something to do with the document Vance shredded on his first day as Director or the document the Secretary of the Navy took out of the folder that Gibbs had on Vance.

Who knows - but I sure as hell cannot wait for the next gripping episode!!

INFLUENCE OF TELEVISION ON TODAYS YOUNG MINDS

We spend so many hours in front of the television set – we each have our favourites we enjoy to watch every day and most of us make a point of it not to miss that specific show. Every day we spend more and more time in front of the television whether it is to watch a show on a network, a DVD we have purchased or hired and now it has even moved on to the computer, with a lot of people who have the time and the access downloading their favourites on to the computer and the continually viewing the shows.

I don’t have a problem with a lot of the shows, as I don’t watch all of the shows, but I do try to watch a range and increase my knowledge base. There are some shows that not even I find inappropriate to show early in the evenings or late afternoon. Just as an example – here in South Africa we have the new versions of Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place showing on one of our pay channels at 19h30 Zulu time. These are the kind of shows I find demoralizing and definitely not good for the influential minds of our youths, as it is a constant barrage of sex, drugs, alcohol, cheating and other lude acts that our children view and then try to emulate because on the show it is considered cool if you do drugs of cheat on a test. And then we have the gall to say why are the youths of today so unruly and insufferable! Where are the parents?

I ask this question with my mind on these frivolous law suits being filed, one after the other where children hurt themselves or others after viewing a show, not understanding the content and then trying to emulate their on screen hero’s. One brilliant example of this is WWE – the wrestling shows that are on the air, their target viewers are teenagers and younger who don’t have the intellect to comprehend that what they are seeing on television is purely entertainment and not real. The children don’t understand that the wrestlers on screen, do get hurt but that it has all been choreographed before hand and that untrained persons should not emulate what they see. That is why I ask, where are the parents? Don’t the parents screen what their children watch anymore? Where is the mother or father, joining their child when their favourite show comes on and then explaining to the child, you cannot do that to your brother because you will get hurt – the guys on screen are entertainers and must not be copied as it is dangerous. No – it much easier and more convenient to let the child get hurt and try and sue the creator of wrestling for millions than what it is to sit down with them for five minutes and explain the concept to them.

Then on the other side the argument can be made that there are shows that help shape us in the good way, so what about them? I agree one hundred percent – but where are these shows now? What happened to Touched By an Angel – the weekly dose of religion wrapped in a beautiful message. Joan of Arcadia comes to mind as well – the problem with these shows the youth don’t like watching them because there is no action, intrigue or sex involved. But I believe this is a problem that stems from the shows the children watch from a young age. A wonderful show that I can remember from my youth was Digimon : Digital Monsters – and this show centres around young children being chosen to save the world along with their friends the Digimon from evil monsters. Now contrary to what the name might suggest the content of the show is extremely youth friendly. Each of the children represent a crest or beacon that the world needs and each of these are taught to the children who watch the show. Like courage, love, sincerity, reliability, friendship, knowledge, light and hope and each of these has become a virtue in my own life and hopefully in many others lives as well.

Television also plays a major role in the decisions that affect the course of our lives – with such a show as CSI, after the show debuted the number of applicants for crime scene investigators more than tripled and this is only by the visual effect this show had on its viewers. How many of us want to be cops because of the cop shows we see, the good guy putting the bad guy in jail is very appealing but never as it is on screen. We want our love lives to be as those we see in the movies and when they don’t turn out that way we go into a deep depression, go onto medication and ruin our lives. Anyone who says televisions influence on our lives is minimal is a moron!

Our lives are on the fast track – we live, eat and breathe in front of the television. Movie stars influence our daily lives more than politicians do. There is no more “family time” – it’s basically “my show is on so be quit!”! Parents are too busy or too tired to monitor their children anymore and it is a lot easier to leave them with the television as a babysitter than it is for themselves to spend time with their children.

We as a nation need to spend more time outdoors – walk your dog, jog around the block or for goodness sake visit your neighbour. We are so encompassed with the television our lives are passing us by. How many hours do we not spend in front of the television where we could be spending the time on our families and friends – reconnecting! I think it is time to abolish the television and bring back good old fashioned family quality time.

Xander is the truest of true life characters in this show; he represents the underachiever and the no-one from high school. Throughout the years he has gone from the goof to the mature reliable person Buffy can count on to save her life and those around her.

Season one – The first glimpse we get of Xander is as he is riding up to school on his skateboard and getting knocked to his ass by a rail as he sees Buffy walking by, small side note – thank goodness the skateboarder angle was dropped for Xander. He is the first person to find out about Buffy’s secret identity and is the co-founder of the Scooby’s. During the first season we learn that Willow has a crush on him – but he only sees her as a friend. During the course of this season he is seen as the jealous stalker kind – of as he has this massive crush on Buffy but she only has eyes for Angel. His main role is to save Buffy in the finale as he has to perform CPR to revive her.

Season two – Xander is still the class clown, with jocks bullying him and girls avoiding him. His main rivalry with Angel boils over as they constantly have words and seriously don’t like each other. Xander starts dating Cordelia as the year progresses, due to all the life and death situations they were thrown in together. In the episode Halloween he is turned into an army man and after the spell ended the military knowledge stayed with him and has served him well. He was the key figure in the demise of the Judge as he had the knowledge to acquire and use a rocket launcher. He was there with the final battle against Angelus helping Giles out of the mansion.

Season three – This was the climax of his relationship with Cordelia, as they broke up after Cordelia and Oz witnessed him and Willow making out while trapped in Spike’s basement. He went single for a while until Cordelia wished to Anyanka the Vengeance demon – and her wish was stopped and Anyanka was turned mortal and known as Anya. She asked Xander to the prom – the beginning of big things for them. In the episode “The Zeppo” Xander has to single handedly stop a bunch of zombies from blowing up the high school and during the course of that evening he loses his virginity to Faith in her motel room. During the final battle with the Major at Graduation day Xander was pivotal using his military knowledge in co-ordinating the students in flanks and attacking and beating back the wave of vampires.

Season four – This is Xander’s year of downward spiralling – he decides not to go to college and instead goes on a cross – country road trip which doesn’t go very far as his car breaks down. When he comes back to Sunnydale he has to move into his parents’ basement and pay them rent. He gets quite a few lame jobs. Anya return to his life and at first their relationship is purely sexual but as it progresses he falls in love with the crazy ex-demon. During the enjoining spell – Xander was the heart part of the “Super – Buffy”.

Season five – Here Xander starts maturing a bit, securing a managerial construction job and his own apartment with Anya moving in with him. This season is infamous because of the Dracula episode – where Xander is turned into Dracula’s manservant – brilliantly done! He has to contend with Willow and Anya’s bickering over him and Anya’s ex boyfriend Olaf the Troll who breaks his arm. Just before they go into the final battle with glory the hell god and her minions, does he ask Anya to marry to – to which she replies that she will say yes if they both survive the battle.

Season six – Sees another powerful spell with Xander as a key element – as he, Willow, Anya and Tara bring Buffy back from the dead. Xander and Anya are engaged and it’s the build up to their wedding with tensions building. On the day of the wedding Xander gets a visit from a demon pretending to be his future self in order to get Xander to leave her, which he does as he realises his fears and shortcomings. The rest of the year he has to work on getting over Anya and rebuilding his life without her. He is the pivotal character in this season, when Willow goes over the deep end after the murder of Tara; he was the one to use the yellow crayon story from kinder garden to reach her heart by using his words and determination, effectively stopping the end of the world.

Season seven – during the course of this season, he and Anya have a few sexual encounters in times of crisis but ultimately end things for the good of both. He was the lead constructor while building and renovating the new Sunnydale high school. During the battle at the wine cellar against Caleb the evil priest, Caleb destroyed one of his eyes saying he was the one that is all seeing and that he would put an end to it. During the final battle he was with Dawn fighting and killing a few Tulacan vampires – manning one of the crucial exit points in the high school. After the destruction of Sunnydale he was mentioned being in Africa – finding and recruiting new Slayers to the cause.

She has come a long way from the shy, nerdy girl we met to the most powerful Wiccan in this plain of existence. The wily ways and sometimes risky humour entertained us and not to mention the jaw dropping kisses and sex scenes of a lesbian nature that we witnessed

Season one – We meet Willow and she is portrayed as a nerdy girl that does not risk much. She herself says she has had a crush on Xander since they were five, but because of her nature she was too afraid to do something about those feelings. Here Buffy becomes her best friend alongside Xander and helps her gain some confidence in who she is. During the course of the first season her main role is to aid Giles in his research via the internet and hacking into databases.

Season two – In this season Willow starts to explore the magicks. After Angelus murders Miss Calendar – the computer sciences teacher, Willow is given her class to teach. She also gets a bit of a more aggressive make over as she leads the Scooby’s in Buffy’s absence. Due to her long standing crush on Xander and his betrayal of her trust by getting into a relationship with Cordelia, Willow decides to risk it all and starts a relationship with Oz the lead guitarist of Dingoes Ate My Baby and who it turns out is a werewolf. At the end of the season she has become such an expert witch she is able to re – ensoul Angelus and revert him back to Angel before Buffy sent him to hell.

Season three – Here Willow explores even further with the magicks and we are introduced to her doppelganger – vampire Willow from another dimension, who as Willow describes – might even be a little gay, giving us reference to her future lesbian relationships. Willow joins a coven with Amy Madison and Michael Czajak which didn’t last long. Willow and Xander are taken hostage by Spike and share a kiss but didn’t know Oz and Cordelia were in the doorway watching them and having come to their rescue. Cordelia and Xander’s relationship didn’t make it but Willow and Oz were able to patch things up. Oz was also the person to take her virginity just before the assault on the Major at Graduation Day. She was approached by Yale, Harvard and Oxford but chose UC Sunnydale because she could be with Buffy and help with the good fight.

Season four – After some trials and tribulations Willow and Buffy become roommates but even while living together they drifted away from each other and only fully reconnected at the end of the season. This season was full of self discovery for Willow – she and Oz broke it off after his carnal relations in werewolf form with another werewolf, resulting in Oz leaving Sunnydale on a journey of self discovery and trying to tame the beast inside. Trying to further her magicks she joins a coven on campus, which resulted in the meeting of Tara McClay, her soul mate. She and Tara met and took things slow with Willow eventually coming out of the closest at the end of the season. She conjured a very powerful spell at the end of the season combining her essence with those of Buffy, Xander and Giles and going forth in destroying Adam in the Initiative.

Season five – This season sees Willow’s magic power increase dramatically and her relationship with Tara strengthens. Willow doesn’t have as much to do in this season and it’s only after Glory mistakes Tara for her key and brain sucks Tara does Willow really feature. Fuelled by her desire for revenge Willow goes on a rampage and fights Glory woman on god and we get a glimpse of dark Willow that rears again in season six. Even though in their first encounter Willow doesn’t do that much damage she gets a feel for the god and knows what to do the next time they meet. At the end of the season Willow reverses the brain suck on Glory restoring Tara to her rightful mind and significantly weakening the god and giving Buffy the chance of defeating her.

Season six – Here Willow spirals out of control, after an argument with Tara about Willow using too much magic, Tara leaves Willow and tells her she much quit the magicks and she’ll come back. At the start of the season we get another glimpse of Willow’s power when she restores Buffy back to life and her powers only grow as the season progresses. After Tara left, Willow de-ratted Amy and went on a magic spree with her while being introduced to Raiffe the warlock who enhances Willows powers but infects her with an addiction for it. Only after landing Dawn in the hospital and facing the loss of Tara does Willow decide to face her problems of abuse and quits magic. In one of the most heart wrenching scenes, Warren Mears shoots and kills Tara (which made me cry) and ultimately resulting in the awakening of dark, veiny Willow who goes on a rampage resulting in her filleting Warren alive and hunting the other two of the Trio. With the retuning Giles, he imbues her with the true essence of magic and using Xander are they able to talk Willow off of the proverbial cliff and calm her down.

Season seven – Starting off Willow was taken by Giles to England to learn the meaning of magic and help her deal and control her powers. When returning to Sunnydale she had to make amends with her friends who she tried to kill. After the tragic demise of Tara, Willow found a new love in the form of a potential Slayer named Kennedy. When the first evil rears its head, it’s Willow that has the power to turn the tables on it. During the build-up to the final battle with the first, Willow gets a call from Fred in Los Angeles, asking her for help. Willow goes to Los Angeles and battles with Jasmine a former Power That Be that has come to earth, and re – ensouls Angelus for a second time and also retrieves Faith and brings her to Sunnydale to help against The First. Willow was used in the final battle not as a fighter but as the person that would change the Slayer line forever, she used the Slayer Scythe to tap into the Slayer powers and turn all the potential Slayers into real Slayers thus making her a goddess on earth.

In Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Movie the main character Buffy Summers was portrayed by Kristy Swanson in the crappy movie version that gave life to the television series, where Sarah Michelle Gellar took over the role of Buffy Summers.

The story starts of in Los Angeles where Buffy learns from Merrick Jamison – Smythe her first Watcher that she is the Chosen One – the one girl in all the world with the strength and powers to be able to beat back the rising evils. When Merrick gets killed by Lothos she kills Lothos and burns down the school gymnasium in order to kill the rest of his vampire cronies, which results in her being expelled from Hemery high. It is later learned that after this incident she told her parents about herself and vampires and they had her admitted to a mental hospital for treatment. She decided to stop talking about vampires and was released six weeks later.

Not long after her release, her parents got a divorce prompting Joyce to take her daughter and travel to Sunnydale to start a new life. And this is where the proper story starts. Buffy gets introduced on her first day at Sunnydale high to a wide variety of characters, Xander and Willow her newest best friends, Giles the librarian and her new watcher and Cordelia the vapid cheerleader the embodiment of all that Buffy was. Together with her friends known as the Scooby’s they go after various demons and vampires, protecting the populous of Sunnydale and especially the school that is situated over a Hellmouth.

Season one – Buffy and her friends fight off The Master, The Order of Aurelius and various other vampires as the season progresses. In so doing her friends learn all about the legend of the Slayer and all of Buffy’s abilities helping protect her cover as she protects others. Angel also makes his first appearance as a mysterious stranger throwing out clues helping Buffy find and defeat the demons. All throughout she starts falling for him even though he turns out to be a vampire as well. The climax of the season is where Buffy goes to fight the master in his underground prison – but she draws the short end of the straw and gets bit by him and being thrown face down in a pool of water, effectively dying. Luckily it was only a clinical death and with the help of Xander who performs CPR and resuscitates her bringing her back to life. She goes after The Master and efficiently kills him.

Season two – The Buffy - Angel relationship goes to the next level and Giles also falls in love with Miss Calendar. Angel takes Buffy’s virginity and reverts back to his evil form, angelus and terrorises the Sunnydale inhabitants, aiming his attacks at Buffy hoping to emotionally hurt her. He is the one who killed Miss Calendar when he found out she belonged to the Gypsy clan that cursed him with a soul so many years ago. Together with Spike and Drusilla they try to take over the town and effectively end the world using the demon Acathla. Luckily for Buffy, Spike (who does not want the world to end and spoil all his fun) switches sides and helps her to stop Angel and Drusilla, and as Buffy runs Angel through with a sword sending him into the demon dimension he had opened, Willow, Buffy’s witch friend re- ensouls him using an ancient gypsy curse. A heartbroken Buffy runs away trying to cope with murdering her true love

Season three – Buffy finds her true self (and deals with the loss of Angel) after several weeks in Los Angeles and returns to Sunnydale and has to patch up her relationships with all her friends and family. Faith the “evil” slayer is introduced in this season, first fighting on the side of good and helping Buffy find her riskier side but after she murders the deputy major turns bad and joins forces with the big bad of the season Major Wilkens, who plans on devouring the graduating class and turning into a true, pure demon. Buffy strategically plans and enlightens everyone and together she and her fellow classmates take down the Major and blow up the high school in the process. At the end of the season the retuning Angel leaves Sunnydale at the behest of Buffy’s mother to help her have some semblance of a normal life – or as normal as it can get.

Season four – Buffy heads off to college and has too deal with a heavy class load and a few new romances as well as the United States Government imposing themselves on her territory and basically taking her glory. Her new loves comes in the form of farm bred Iowa boy Riley Finn who steals her heart and helps her take down the Initiative he was working for. She and all her friends basically drift off in different directions as all friend clichés do when going to college but in the end they reunite stronger than ever. In the season climax Buffy and the Scooby’s have to take down the cybernetically engineered Adam who was built from the parts of other demons, man and machine in the basement of the Initiative. So they all combine their essences with Buffy to form a “Super – Buffy” (heart, mind, soul and body) strong enough to defeat Adam and shut down the Initiative.

Season five – This was for me one of the saddest seasons of all – as Joyce the stable of the Summers house is killed by a brain aneurism after a long battle with a tumour on her brain. For Buffy she and Riley broke up when Spike revealed to her Riley was having his blood drained by vampire chicks because as he put it “just to feel”. On top off dealing with a new sister who a couple of monks gave to her to protect (she is actually a mystical key used to open the door to another dimension) she has to run the household and pay the bills since the passing of her mother and then to crown it all she has to do battle with the Hell god Glorificus who wants to kill Dawn and destroy all mankind. At the end of the season she did battle with Glory beating her to a pulp but was unable to stop one of glory’s minions from cutting Dawn and beginning the ritual bloodletting that opens the gates to the other dimensions. Buffy realised as per her vision quest that “death is her gift” and sacrificed herself by jumping into the portal to close it and in so doing she left this mortal coil to rest in heaven.

Season six – This has to be considered as Buffy’s darkest year. After her death in the previous season Willow, Anya, Xander and Tara vowed to bring her back to life believing she was trapped in a hell dimension being tortured. They ripped her from heaven and thrust her back to life leaving her to deal with being back on earth and facing the normal quarrels of life like raising Dawn and paying the bills. She gets a job at the Double Meat Palace slinging burgers and starts a love to hate sex relationship with Spike so she could escape into something else for a short while – when she breaks it off with Spike she does so because the hate is killing her and to deal with the break-up Spike tries to rape her. She fights him off and with his tail between his legs he leaves Sunnydale to get his manhood or vampire – ism back. The Trio, the evil in this season was defeated by Buffy at the end and to get revenge Warren shot Buffy and killed Tara turning Willow into dark evil veiny Willow. As Willow went after the trio (who were in prison) Buffy, Dawn, Xander and Anya had to try and stop her from killing them and losing herself but it was only through the return of Giles and his sacrifice and Xander’s close connection with Willow where they able to stop her. This is the first season where Buffy was not present at the final battle stopping the evil.

Season seven – Starts off with Buffy taking a more hands on approach to training Dawn and has to deal with the newly en-souled Spike back in her life. She gets a job as a guidance counsellor at the newly renovated Sunnydale high school where Dawn in also attending. She has to face the most powerful and ultimate evil in all the world known as the First. The first is the ultimate evil that is killing the Slayer line and all the potential Slayers in it before going after Buffy and Faith. This season sees the return of Giles with Buffy’s home becoming refuse and training centre to all the surviving potentials. Buffy gets a new friend in the form of previous Slayer Nikki Wood’s son – Robin Wood joining in on the fight. Faith also makes a return and takes the reigns once the potentials and the Scooby’s rebel against Buffy. With only Spike staying true to our heroine – he urges her to follow her instincts as she knows what she is doing. She goes after Caleb, one of the First evil’s henchmen who had kicked her ass a couple of times and with the assistance of the cameo appearance of Angel defeats him and gets the all powerful Slayer Scythe. With this Scythe Willow uses to tap into the Slayer line and gives all the potentials Buffy’s powers and makes them all Slayers. At the climax of the battle – Spike, Buffy’s full time lover uses his mystical amulet to destroy the Hellmouth prompting Buffy to finally tell him she loves him. After the destruction of Sunnydale, Buffy and the Scooby’s set out to find and train the remaining Slayers that have been awakened and thus ends our story.

NCIS - SEASON 1 - EPISODE 1

Heyow guys - I have decided to review my new ultimate favorite show NCIS. Starting with season one hopefully catching up before season eight starts. The first episode is "Yankee White" and it gives up one of the most under appreciated federal law enforcement agencies and all their comings and goings!

The episode starts off with Air Force One and President Bush - he boards the plane and we meet Caitlin "Kate" Todd who is working on his Secret Service detail. The football carrier Lt. Trapp dies on the plane - forcing the president to evacuate and the authorities to be called in and NCIS steals the body from the Secret Service and FBI by using the local coroner who is friends with Ducky - the NCIS coroner and so they steal the body and travel back to Washington.

Major Kerry is the second victim on the show - and he was the person who originally had to carry the football on Air Force One - but got sick and had to hand over the job. We learn he and Kate were having a romantic relationship - but she ended it as she could not concentrate on her detail of protecting the president and shortly after his meeting with Kate, Major Kerry dies the same mysterious way as Lt. Trapp.

Abby the NCIS forensic scientist finds traces of Australian Coastal Taipan Snake Venom (DMSO) on the collars of both victims - and the murders are referenced to be the work of a terrorist group. Just a small side note - Abby, wow! She is one hot goth!

The first and only movie reference Gibbs is known to make - turns out to be on the mark (Air Force One - with Harrison Ford)! The terrorist on Air Force One plans to take out the president as it was done on the movie - but Kate and Gibbs luckily foil his plans! Kate resigns from the Secret Service because of her affair and Gibbs recruits her to join NCIS.

The Tony Tale of the episode:
Once at Washington airport the FBI take the body in the body bag - but unknown to them Tony is in the bag pretending to be the body while Gibbs and Ducky get away with the real body! When Agent Fornell of the FBI finds out the body is actually Tony he gets thrown out of the van while in the bag - and bounces around on the beltway! Seriously funny!

There are four rules mentioned in this episode namely:
Rule#1 - Never let suspects stay together
Rule#2 - Always wear gloves at a crime scene
Rule#3 - Never believe what your told - always double check

Another rule is mentioned but not fully and not numbered: never apologize!

And finally a bit of trivia - the director of the Secret Service as seen on the MTAC screen talking to the Director of the FBI and Director Morrow of NCIS was the murderer Dr. Russell Pike in the season 4 episode "Driven"

HIMYM - SEASON 1 EPISODE 10

This episode is one of those laugh-a-minute episodes where the cast and story keep you glued from the beginning to the end. The 'Pineapple incident' must be one of the most popular episodes of the season and trivia fact the actress who played Trudy returned in a following episode when Ted and Barney fight it out for the championship belt!

This episode takes place mainly at the pub - as Ted is still whining about not being able to catch Robin. So Barney tells him to stop thinking about it and start drinking about it. Ted gets horribly drunk on shooters that Carl the bartender created called 'the red dragon' and so our night out with Ted begins. A wonderful backdrop story is Marshall's paranoia about Carl being a vampire - which I found so funny!

The episode deals mainly in each characters dealings with Ted while he is drunk in flashbacks of their memories as he cannot remember for himself what he had done. Major props have to go out to Ted for being "vomit free since '93"! As the story unfolds we find out Ted had made numerous phone calls to Robin while she was on a date with a 'hundred millionaire' - as she put it. Ted dances on the tables and sprains his ankle and wakes up with a strange woman who he had met in his drunken stupor, in his bed as well as a big ass pineapple on his side table!

HIMYM - SEASON 1 EPISODE 9

I know, I know it's been awhile since my last post, but I'm at it again with another wonderful installment of How I Met Your Mother. This is the first Thanksgiving we experience with the gang entitled "Belly full of turkey".

We have two plot lines in this episode featuring our favorite couple - Marshall and Lily going off to Marshall's home town to visit his parents for Thanksgiving. However Lily has missed her period for the last couple of days and goes on holiday with a preoccupied mind. Once at Marshall's family home she is bombarded with all the Erickson family traits - like being huge for one and she freaks out. She goes to the local convenience store and purchases a pregnancy test but due to the lack of a bathroom and her desperation for an answer she takes the test in the alley - and just as luck would have it she gets arrested for 'public urination' and gets put in a holding cell. Marshall comes to her rescue and they find out they are not really ready for children but if the fates want it that way they would be able to do it because of their love for one another. Luckily she was not pregnant and they were saved.

Meanwhile back in New York, Barney disappears for Thanksgiving and Ted and Robin decide they want to volunteer on Thanksgiving. Funnily enough they choose the one place place to volunteer where Barney is as well - doing court appointed community service for 'public urination' of all things. First they don't get to do much but eventually get a sorting job - when Ted and Robin realise the volunteers take much of the given food home he revolts and gets himself, Robin and Barney thrown out of the soup kitchen. So they head off to the closest strip club to experience a Barney style Thanksgiving.

The quote of the episode takes place at the strip club while Ted stands in line @ the all-you-can-eat buffet after he bought a homeless guy a lap dance as a good deed:

STRIPPER: Hey, I saw what you did for that guy. It was really sweet. Do you want a dance?
TED: No thanks. You wants some yams?

This brilliant show follows the antics of five New Yorkers as they go about their daily lives - and mainly deals with the comedy in their lives as well as thier relationship with each other and others.

The show has to be considered as a memory - as the title states, it follows the main character Ted Mosby as he tells his children the story of how he met their mother in excrutiating detail (much to the sheer-grin of the children).

TED MOSBY
Dubbed Theodore Evelyn Mosby by Barney. He is the main protaganist of the show and he has two children - boy and girl who he is telling his life story too. His profession is architect and throughout the course of the show he has gone from architect in big company, to architect in his own company and finally (so far) architect teacher at New York University. His best friends are Marshall and Lily and they have been together since college - Wesleyen. He is constantly searching for 'the one' - and for two years he believed the one was Robin - whom he dated for a year. Barney who he met in the pub at the urinal has reluctantly become one of his best friends, and as such they keep going on constant legendary adventures together.

BARNEY STINSON
Known as the inventor of the "Lemon Law" and as The Barnicle. He always wears suits and has two catchphrases - 'suit up' and 'legen ... dary'! He regards Ted as his best friend as such often gets them both in compromising situations. He is a very successfull businessman but no one knows what it is exactly that he does, not even Marshall who works with him. His motto in life is too hook up with as many hot women as possible - and keep record of it! His only meaningfull relationship was with Robin but that did not work out for him! He is the ultimate single guy and role model to many!!!

MARSHALL ERIKSON
He is the ultimate relationship man - he dated Lily for more than 8 years and then married her, she is the ultimate love of his life and he is a complete wreck without her. He considers Ted and Lily his best friends. His love also stretches to good food, Wookies from Star Wars , the occult especially ghosts, aliens and of course the lockness monster. He is a good lawyer who actually wanted to be an environmental lawyer but ended up at Goliath National Bank working with Barney. Marshall does not like to fight but when he does you do not want to step in his way which was proved in season 4 in the 'Fight' episode but is actually contrary to previous statements made in the show.

LILY ALDRIN
The female lead on the show and every mans dream wife / girlfriend. She is married to Marshall but kept her own last name. Her best friend is Ted, but as of late Robin has started to take his spot. Lily is a kindergarden teacher by day (which she doesn't think much of), and a teacher and excellent cook by night. She gets very emotional when Marshall is not around and with her - as they have become very attached to each other, often having mind conversations! She left Marshall once because she wanted to persue a painting career and felt she couldn't do it while married but she quickly found out she made a mistake and came crawling back! She changes her hair colour quite often and is a running gag in the show! More recently we found out she has taken it upon herself to break Ted up with all his girlfriends she deems - not frontporch material!

ROBIN SCHERBATSKY
She is from Canada - she was a popstar and gameshow host in her home town, much to the amusement of the gang - and us! She is a television personality by nature, she was a reporter, then moved on to anchor and then had her own morning talk show. She dated both Ted and Barney but those relationships didn't work out, but more recently she dated Don her co-anchor who left her for the job she turned down for him - irony heh! She even went to Japan to try and report there but they had her on tv with a monkey who was more popular than her, so she moved back to New York and moved in with Ted. Lily is her best friend and confidant but Ted is there in a close second. She is the ultimate gun nut and loves wearing suits, smoking cigars and drinking whiskey!

23. Dr. Andrew Brown played by Treat Williams in Everwood - we all cheered for him as he tried to rebuild his home and heart after the passing of his wife, and even though he made mistakes along the way - he remains a favourite.

22. Cliff Huxtable played by Bill Cosby in The Cosby Show - a legendary performer who paved the way for others just like him

21. Ryan Atwood played by Benjamin McKenzie in The O.C - he may be a broody and violent teenager, but overall he captured our respect with the ways he tried to lead his life and help his friends and family

20. Spike played by James Marsters in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel - he is also known as Captain Peroxide and is a long time rival of Angel. His hilarious antics cannot be decribed in words - you have to witness it to believe it!

19. Piper Haliwell played by Holly Marie Combs in Charmed - one of the three sisters of legend, I think she had the coolest power of all and was the glue that kept the show together.

18. Seeley Booth played by David Boreanaz in Bones - the sexual tension between him and his partner smolders onscreen and everyone loves a cop with a hard ass attitude but has repect for his squid partners in the lab

17. Rupert Giles played by Anthony Stewart Head in Buffy The Vampire Slayer - his British sninicism and failure to grasp American culture created a bit of a snobbish character that we all love and he leads the scoobies against evil

Allan Shore played by James Spader in Boston Legal - his democratic political views often put him at odds with his best friend Denny and his womanizing ways often got too much but whenever he got up and did his closing argument - everyone held there breath as they listened and took in the message in his speech

15. Ray Romano played by Ray Barone in Everyone Loves Raymond - it was the sitcom to watch and his characterization of the everyday husband was a big part of that.

14. Cappie played by Scott Michael Foster in Greek - he might look like the average college student always walking around with a cup of booze in his hand, but everytime he opens his mouth he always has a wize word to say to help whomever out of sticky situation

13. Veronica Mars played by Kristen Bell in Veronica Mars - the sassy, female detective had us all spellbound as she conquered the local leos and ever college life

12. Sydney Bristow played by Jennifer Garner in Alias - she is the ultimate super spy, sexy in everything she does with wit and genius to back it up.

What I would like to do - is characterize my Top 100 Characters that I find are the most intriguing characters of television today and yesterday. I will be doing it in four segments - 25 at a time. I have seen so many list out there - for which I agree with some but disagree with most. I did not use any criteria to choose my favourites - only those characters I found the most entertaining made my list!

100. Homer Simpson from The Simpsons - even though he is not the best role model for anyone, he is very enjoyable to watch and his antics are hilarious.

99. Horatio Cane played by David Caruso in CSI: Miami. His one liners and dark glasses have become synonimous with television viewing.

98. Randy Hickey played by Ethan Suplee in My Name Is Earl - his stupidity is entertaining and that's about it.

97. Kenneth Parcell played by Jack McBryer in 30 Rock - he might just be a supporting character but I enjoy him more than most of the other characters on 30 Rock with the exception of Liz Lemon and Jack Donahue.

96. Al Bundy played by Ed O'Neill in Married With Children - he is the ultimate underdog father with so many issues relating to everyday life - he feels like part of the family

95. Paul Hennessy played by John Ritter in 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter - after his death you could immediately recognize the effect this great actor had on this show and so many others.

94. The Janitor played by Neil Flynn in Scrubs - his rivalry with J.D is one of the highlights of the show and makes the idiocy of the show worth watching.

91. President Jed Bartlett played by Martin Sheen in The West Wing - he is one of the iconic presidents ever in television history and just for that he gets my vote.

90. Luke Danes played by Scott Patterson in Gilmore Gilrs - his role in Gilmore Girls may have been understated but he grew to be a fan favourite - between his romantic relations with Loralei and disregard for town rules he truely made himself famous.

89. Grace Anna-Darko played by Holly Hunter in Saving Grace - her hard ass attitude and constant visits from Earl her angel make this entertaining duo something to watch.

88. Hal played by Bryan Cranston in Malcolm In The Middle - he is another one of those television fathers that one can relate to in dealing with the children but always does it just the way you would not!

87. Will Tippen played by Bradley Cooper in Alias - he only starred in the first, second and third season with occasional guest stars in the following seasons - but he grew from this role to a major film actor - which one has to give props to.

86. Fox Mulder played by David Duchovny in X-Files - I didn't really care much for the show but his character with the constant inner battles was intriguing.

85. Dr. Sam Beckett played by Scott Bakula in Quantum Leap - his versatility in playing so many differant characters in one show is really a showing of his greatness

84. Will Smith played by Will Smith in The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air - the starting point of the prince will forever remain in the realms of the great comedy shows of the 90's.

83. Kimble Cho played by Tim Kang in The Mentalist - he is one of the classic characters in the story - I personally enjoy his character. His deep seated fear of magic and tragic dislike of pineapple on pizza (which I wholeheartedly agree with) are only few of the traits that make this character so memorable.

82.Joey Tribbiani played by Matt LeBlanc in Friends and Joey - he was such a great character coming from Friends he got his own spin-off show. His stupidity and great comic timing make him so memorable.

81. Sarah Walker played by Yvonne Strahovsky in Chuck - her beauty and cool fighting skills are only some of traits that secure her a spot on my list.

80. Dexter Morgan played by Michael C. Hall in Dexter - this serial killer that goes after only bad guys gives off those cool guys vibes and on top of his killing schedule he has to deal with his family and fellow cops.

79. Red Forman played by Kurtwood Smith in That 70's Show - his twisted view of life and the entertaining way by which he is trying to make his son a man entertains us.

78. Xander Harris played by Nicolas Brendan in Buffy The Vampire Slayer - this goofy guy got the hot girl and learns some fighting skills in the progress and even saves the world and brought our favourite heroin back from the dead - twice makes him a legendary character in my book.

77. Helen Gamble played by Lara Flynn Boyle in The Practice - this hard ass woman laywer was the first major female lawyer on our screens after Ally McBeal which puts her solidly on my feminist watch but also on my list.

76. Marissa Cooper played by Mischa Barton in The O.C - her character somewhat annoyed me with her childish antics but without her (after her death scene - in which I cried) the show was just not the same.

HIMYM - SEASON 1 EPISODE 8

This has to go down in How I Met Your Mother history as one of those truelly legendary episodes - known as the "The Duel". This is one of those episodes that were up in my book as a strong contender for episode of the season!

The episode features mainly our lead three friends - Marshall, Lily and Ted with Robin and Barney lending support. Even though Barney invents a concept that will revolutionalize the dating world - the Lemon Law! As we have seen so far - Ted and Marshall live together but with Lily being engaged to Marshall she spends most of her time there as well, only going back to her own apartment occasionally. In this episode Lily returns to her apartment and finds her landlady died and her apartment being sold and turned into a Chinese Food Restaurant! So Ted and Marshall decide to let her move in with them - but unknown to Ted - some small things start to change which he doesn't really like so in a attempt to reclaim the apartment he buys a english phone booth - hilarious!! And to counter that Marshall takes down the swords they hung on the wall to put one of Lily's paintings on the wall - which leads them to 'the duel' - which was awesome, but ended with Ted stabbing Lily in the shoulder as she comes in the door! Legen ... dary!!!!!!!

Barney - ism:
Barney creates the Lemon Law.
Definition - from the moment a date begins you have five minutes to decide whether you're going to commit to an entire evening. And if you don't, it's no hard feelings just good night, thanks for playing, see you never!

HIMYM - SEASON 1 EPISODE 7

What another wonderful night we have here, and what better to pass the time than blog about one of my favourite shows - How I Met Your Mother. This is Episode 7 of Season 1 which is entitled - The Matchmaker. And once again as in a lot of HIMYM episodes, we have two major stories - Ted & Barney and Lily & Marshall with Robin floating between the two.

The story starts off, once again in the pub our gang frequents - with all of the gang watching tv, where one of Robin's interviews is airing. After the segment she advises Ted that he should join, it might help him find "the one". Immediately Barney agrees - only too glad for the opportunity to hook up with sad, single women. That being said he cons Ted into going to Love Solutions and gets him to sign up. Where Ted gets no matches - sad! The only person he is matched up with is a woman who is engaged to get married but he tries to woo her anyway - but is unsuccessfull.

Marshall and Lily go through a traumatic experience - they encounter the "Cock - A -Mouse", a mystical creature brought on by the horizontal cha-cha of a mouse and a cockroach. All throughout the episode they try to kill the animal - but are unsuccessfull - and Robin even doubts the existance of this being, but she is proved wrong. Eventually they set it free, by throwing it out the window only to find out it can fly (btw - hilarious scene)!

The Barney-ism and quote are all rolled up into one in this episode:

BARNEY: Come on Ted, this is an incredible opportunity. We'll meet our soulmates, nail 'em and never call them again (chuckles)

BARNEY: Gosh, thanks Ellen. I sure hope it works. I'm so done with the single life, all the games and the meaningless sex.

BARNEY: That is so true, Ellen. I think i'm ready to stop being a me and start being a we. Hey, is there anyway I can let it be known that i love cuddling?
ELLEN: Oh, of course you can. That is so...
BARNEY: It's kinda hard to talk about with Ted here, but I just want someone who's not afraid to hold me at night when the tears come. Ellen, can you help me find her?ELLEN: Get out!
BARNEY: What?
ELLEN: I get 15 guys like you every week. Jerks who just want to meet vulnerable women, nail 'em and never call them again.
BARNEY: Oh my god, people do that?
ELLEN: You wanna do this the easy way or the hard way?
BARNEY: What's the hard way? Security roughs me up and tosses me out?
ELLEN: That's the easy way. The hard way is I stomp the crap out of you myself!

Barney looks as-if he doesn't believe her, Ellen stands up quickly. Barney stands up and runs away!

TELEVISION FATHERS

Many people dispute the fact that television plays a major role in our lives but due to the fact that most people grow up watching television and during the course of most of their adult life they continue to watch as much - it can be refuted. One aspect of this is the influence of television fathers on our role as parents to our own children. There are a few dispicable figures on television but overall there are more good guys than bad guys. We all want to be good father figures to our children - so who are those we can emulate to be the positive role model in our children's lives?

One of the good guys is from the hit teen drama - The O.C. Sanford "Sandy" Cohen is the moral center and true patriach of the Cohen family, guiding, supporting and protecting his sons, Ryan and Seth from what he can - while trying to be the loving and dependable husband his father never was to him and his mother. When we first meet Sandy he is a public defender trying to save as many children as he can, and when meeting Ryan in juvie he sees something of himself in Ryan and has to save him. Ryan instantly hits it off with Seth, the socially awkward son of the Cohens. During the four years we got to know Sandy - he proved his worth as a ageless hippie who loves to surf and would go to the ends of the earth to protect his family. He gets an 8/10 rating as a awesome father.

John Winchester is the next father I'm going to mention, as I feel he falls under both the good and bad guys category. Good because he is a fighter for the side of good and bad because he didn't always put his sons first. John started off as a decorated Corporal in the Marine Corps who returned home after the Vietnam war to marry - Mary. He became a mechanic and settled down having two children with her, Sam and Dean. After Mary's unexplained death, John went off the deep end - vowing to kill whatever got his wife, thus becoming one of the most feared hunters in the United States. But this also came at a price - as he traveled the country he took his sons with him, often leaving them for days on end in motel rooms to fend for themselves. As they grew up Sam wanted to make something of his life and went off to college - to the dismay of his father, while Dean continued to look up to and admire him. While on the road, John had an affair with a nurse which produced a third son, Adam who he never introduced to Sam and Dean and kept away from the world of the supernatural. He made a lot of mistakes, but even though these choices were wrong he did them for the good of his sons. He died to save Dean and returned from hell to help kill Azazel and then vanished in white light but has not been seen in heaven. His motto was - "shoot first ask questions later". I would give him a 5/10 rating as a influencial father.

Rupert Giles, is one of the best father figures around! He is portrayed as a mentor and father figure to Buffy, Xander, Dawn, Willow and Anya. Most of the time he is a calm and collected authority figure but he can let loose with the best of them. He comes from a troubled youth, rebelling against his father and his wishes of becoming a Watcher, but in the end realised that it was his destiny. He has considerable knowledge stating sincronized swimming is the only thing he didn't know anything about, also he has a affinity for magic with basic to moderate fighting skills. And his willingness to kill when no one else can - gives him that edge in the considered storylines. He is a talented singer and guitarist with a British supperiority complex as most Brits have (or are portrayed). During Buffy's Cruciamentum test - he reveals the plot to her and subsequently loses his position on the Watcher Council because as they stated: "he has a fathers love for the girl(Buffy)". After about three years with the Slayer, his paternal role increases and after Buffy's mother, Joyce passes in year five - he becomes the sole paternal figure in her life. When Buffy returns from heaven she becomes very reliant on Giles - emotionally and financially, so he pulls out allowing her to gain her own independance. Thus proving he knows whats best for her. He gets a 8.5 rating as a father.

Angel, the legenday vampire with a soul is one of the good guys and a inspiring father figure to all those fathers out there that complain they have to raise their children under though circumstances. Angel resigned himself to never having a family, as vampires can never have children - but thanks to some cosmic manuevering he gets a son by sleeping with his sire, Darla. Thus the birth of the "miracle" human child of two vampires - Connor. Angel did what he could with what he had to make sure his son was safe, but try as he might Daniel Holtz, Angel's long time rival kidnapped Connor and escaped to a another world through a tear in the dimensional rift. Angel tried every avenue he could to get his son back but could not get to the other dimension. A few weeks later Connor got back through - but as a teen (time moved a lot faster in the other dimension). Connor was on a path of destruction, trying as he might to kill Angel, but even through all that - Angel still reached out and protected his son. Eventually Connor tried to blow himself and Cordelia up, but Angel altered the dimension and took all Connors memories away and gave him new ones and a new family - all to protect his son. Eventually Connor's memories come back and he reunites with Angel and accepts his lineage - proving that never giving up on someone might just save them. Angel gets a 8/10 rating from me.

Luke Danes - is the last father I want to discuss. Luke was very close to his own father but sometimes those feelings weren't reciprocated. After his father died he turned the hardware store into a diner but kept the name and decor the same - to honour his father. Luke can be decribed as dependable, hard-working and square minded. He took in his teenage nephew when his sister could not cope with him, and try as he might he could not get through to the emotionally distant Jess, but he never gave up on him. He has also been a constant father figure in Rory Gilmore's life - always being there for her on important activities in her life. He learnt he had a daughter, April after she approached him. He instantly took to her and did all he could to get to know and increase his involvement in her life - much to the detriment of his relationship with Loralei. The words of Loralei Gilmore in the character reference letter she wrote says it best: "I'm a single mother, and I raised my daughter by myself, but once Luke Danes became my friend in this town, I never really felt alone. Luke and I have had our ups and downs over the years, but through it all, his relationship with my daughter, Rory, has never changed. He's always been there for her no matter what. He was there to celebrate her birthdays. He was there cheering her on at her high school graduation. Luke has been a sort of father figure in my daughter's life. With his own daughter, Luke wasn't given the opportunity to be there for her first 12 years, but he should be given that opportunity now. Once Luke Danes is in your life, he is in your life forever.” So I hope that sums it up!

I know there are a lot more out there that I just haven't mentioned - but somehow they might just be too much to mention. I sincerely hope that one day I can be such a good father to my children as my tv heroes have been to their on screen children

UGLY BETTY

Ugly Betty is an Americanized version of the Columbian telenovella - 'Yo soy Betty, a fea'. One of the producers of the show is the actress, Salma Hayek, who also starred in a few episodes of the first season. The influence of this show reaches far and wide and just to prove that point - Time magazine, named America Ferrera as one of the 100 Most Influencial People of 2007.

The series revolves around Betty Suarez, an aspiring writer from Queens, New York who decides to take a assistant position at Mode Magazine - as the assistant to the womanizing Daniel Meade, the Editor-In-Chief. Her family life and business life come together as romances from the office stem to home and vice versa. Her sister Hilda, the pretty one in the family, her father Ignacio and Hilda's gay son Justin all support her and advise her during her four years at Mead. Betty goes from ugly duckling assistant to swan features editor in the four years she worked for Mode. Contrary to their opinions Amanda (super gorgeous) and Mark became two of her closest friends and together they fight and work at Mode - while also dealing with the power hungry and always scheming Wilhemina Slater.

The first season features more on Betty and Daniel's budding friendship and Betty's hard time at work -struggling against the beautifull people. Betty goes from dating Walter to Henry with quite a few consequences. While Wilhemina schemes with Daniel's brother turned sister Alexis to take over Mode Magazine. Hilda and Justin's dad reconcile only with him being killed off at the end of the season. Overall a relatively good season.
The second season features a bit more on Claire Meade and her trial, escape from jail and recarceration. Betty gets a new love interest - the sandwich maker Gio and his comparison to Henry. Bradford Meade dies and Daniel and Alexis fight over the company with Hilda starting a new relationship and Ignacio becoming a U.S citizen. Wilhemina uses some of Bradfords sperm to conceive and get her hands on part of the Meade fortune as well.
The third installment features mostly on Betty and Mark competing for the top spot at YETI - in order to become editiors in their respected fields. Also Betty gets a new boyfriend - Matt Hartley - a rich snob - very far from her comfort zone. Daniel falls in love with Rebecca - Connor's girlfriend, steals her from him and marries her. Unfortunatly she dies of cancer at the end of the season.
The final season - Betty has to deal with being a features editor. Hilda gets married and Justin comes out to his family as being gay. Amanda finds her father - eventually and Mark gets the promotion to creative editor as he has always dreamed of.

The show has won various awards and were nomitated along with that, quite a few times:
Golden Globe - Best Comedy Series in 2007

That is just to name a few - overall the show has received 162 nominations

The overall consensus for this program has been that it is awesome! The show has gone into syndication after only producing four seasons which just reinforces that fact. The only problem I have is with the finale to the show - everything was just too clean, I mean come on - Wilhemina stopping with all her schemes? I think just a twinge of dramatic twist was needed - leaving the viewer with a sense of wanting for more - and because there are rumours of a movie - what could have been better?!

GOING MENTAL WITH PATRICK

THE MENTALIST - another one of those police shows that everone loves to want to watch. With nothing really new and being compared to the likes of Monk and Psych, it has drawn in quite a following for itself. It works on the Sherlock Holmes based ideas of brain over matter and using an intelligent protagonist battling an evil antagonist much in the way Sherlock and Moriarty went at it - both being intelligent men with something to prove.

The series centres around Patrick Jane, a former highly successfully "pshycic", who assisted the police on a profile for a serial killer known only as Red John. Patrick went on record via television and antagonized the mental killer, who struck back by murdering Patrick's wife and daughter in a brutal fashion. This caused Patrick to crack, so he went to a mental institute for help with his breakdown. When he got out it is his sole mission to catch and kill Red John. Along his way he joins the CBI where he teams up with Lisbon and her team and together they become one of the most successfull teams in the agency. He uses his previously honed skills such as: cold reading, hypnotism, pickpocketing as well as keens skill of observation and his insight into the human behaviour as tools to help him solve cases.

Therese Lisbon is the team leader and normally is the one that has to deal with the fall out of Jane's pranks, which annoy her to no end, but she puts up with it because she knows without him - they would suck. She and Patrick share a close bond, which some speculate might even develop further than the friend stage. From her past we know her mother was killed in a drunk driving accident which caused her to grow up alot faster than she should have and also she might have inherited her mothers trait for the booze. Her mentor was Sam Bosco, who was murdered on the orders of Red John - bringing her and Patrick closer together.

Kimball Cho is one of the classic characters in the story - I personally enjoy his character. His deep seated fear of magic and tragic dislike of pineapple on pizza (which I wholeheartedly agree with) are only few of the traits that make this character so memorable. He used to be in a Asian street gang called the Avon Park Playboys - funky name I know, he had to steal a car while with them and got caught - so he was sent to juvie and from there turned his life around. He went and joined the military and from there went into law enforcement with the CBI where he has become the top interrogator they have. His nickname is Ernie (from Sesame Street). One almost gets the idea he is Jane's right hand man due to the fact they end up most of the time together as he normally plays along with Jane's antics even though they sometimes put him in precarious positions.

Wayne Rigsby is seen as best friends with Cho. He was secretly in love with Grace - or so he thought (everyone knew - he just didn't know, everyone knew). Eventually they hooked up for a few episodes but were split up due to governing policies at work. His speciality is arson and exceeds during arson investigations - duh. He dislikes bikers very much, mostly due to the fact that his father was a biker and treated him like crap. He is the eater of the show - always munching away at something during stakeouts etc - much to the sheergrin of his collegues - this is a running gag in the show.

Grace Van Pelt is the newest member of the team and the computer geek - that normally gets stuck with the research aspect of the investigations. She and Rigsby have dated but due to her choice of career over him - it didn't work out. She is deeply seated in her beliefs of religion and pshycics - as her cousin is a pshycic. She is normally the first person to disagree with Jane's schemes.

Those were just the key cast members but there are a few that recur and are just as important. The main focus has to be on Red John - as the look of this character has not been revealed, he is believed to be meticulous, intelligent and calculating sometimes even brutal in the killings. He has haunted Patrick since the death of Patrick's family and taunts him constantly - trying to bait him out.
Virgil Minelli was the Agent In Charge of the CBI until Red John had Sam Bosco's team killed - so he retired as he felt he could not loose anyone else. His comic element in the show will be missed no matter how small it was.
Madeleine Hightower took over from Virgil as the director of CBI and has a understanding with Jane and his antics - even though she and Lisbon ofter clash. Kristina Frye has also recurred and sparked rumours of a possible love interest for Patrick - even though as he believes she cannot be a pshycic, because there is no such thing as a pshycic.

The show has one numerous awards such as:

CHUCK: THE NEXT LEVEL

"Chuck" a new and exciting action-comedy television program that finally came to our screens on September 24, 2007 and had us all glued to our seats throughout the three seasons that have been aired and we are waiting for the fourth season with bated breath.

The story centres around Chuck, an average computer whiz who received an encoded email from an old friend - Bryce Larkin who was then thought to be a rogue spy who worked for the CIA. This email contained a neural supercomputer called the Intersect which uses digital encoding to embed the only remaining copy of all the worlds spy secrets into Chuck's brain - making him the human Intersect. This creates security concerns for both the NSA and CIA who have to work together to train and protect their newest asset.

CAST

Chuck Bartowski(played by Zachary Levi), is a normal, 20 something computer whizz, who works at the Burbank Buy More in the Nerd Herd division. He receives an encoded email which transforms him into a spy computer, this disrupts his day to day life and endangers all those he loves - so he makes it his mission for the first and second season to try and find Orion (his father and maker of the Intersect) who is the only known person who can remove it from his head and thus give him back his normal life. He succeeds in removing it close to the end of the second season, but when Bryce Larkin is killed and an imminent threat to the world exists, Chuck reboots himself with the Intersect 2.0 which also embeds not only secrets in his head, but fighting techniques, weapon expertise, music skills and many more. Throughout the third season he has to learn to control his emotions in order to control the Intersect and in so doing becomes a fully fledged spy. From the start he falls head over heels in love with his CIA handler Sarah Walker, who eventually reciprocates and moves in with him. The first time he kills is to protect Sarah from the evil rogue spy Shaw. The season finale sees Chuck retiring from the spy business to settle down with Sarah but his fathers dying wishes come to life and he now has to find his long lost mother. Who knows whats in store for Chuck?

Sarah Walker (played by Yvonne Strahovski) is part of team Chuck as the CIA handler who's sole mission is to protect him. She was romantically linked to Bryce Larkin and Daniel Shaw but revealed that she fell in love with Chuck after she dropped off her phone for repairs and before they disarmed a bomb together in the first episode. She posed as Chuck's girlfriend working across the quad from him first at Wienerlicious then Orange, Orange but ultimately Chuck's charms were too much for her and they ended up together for real and even moved in together. She is skilled in various fighting and undercover techniques which come in handy when trying to rid the world of evil. Throughout the seasons it has slowly been revealed that her real name is not Sarah Walker (and has not been released during the episodes) and that her father is a wanted conman who moved them around quite a lot while growing up. She can fly aircrafts and speaks fluent Polish. And it can also be determined that she has not been a fully fledged spy except for the past five years - because of the timeline concerning her "red test" where she had to eliminate Daniel Shaw's wife.

Major John Casey(played byAdam Baldwin) is the tough but fair NSA agent that is assigned to protect Chuck. Only scattered pieces of information has been revealed about John Casey's past such of which are- his real name is Alexander Coburn who faked his death and was given the new identity of John Casey when he joined a covert taskforce of specialized agents. He has a daughter he never was in contact with until the end of season 3 when her life was threatened by the new big bad agency known as The Ring. Casey hold a ranking of US Colonel, he can fly a Stealth fighter and is a world class sniper who has a eternal love for firearms. He joined Chuck's team as his neighbour and green shirt salesman at the Buy More in order to keep a better eye on him. He is the true American hero, who always puts his country first. He is also the proud owner of a Crown Vic - with a few modifications (like a missile built in).

Eleanor Bartowski(played by Sarah Lancester), she is the older sister to our hero, Chuck. She is a qualified doctor and until quite recently didn't know about her brothers after hours activities. Ellie gratuated from UCLA Medical School where she met her husband Dr. Devon Woodcomb. Because both their parents deserted them at a relatively young age - Ellie and Chuck have learnt to rely more on each other and create their own family. She has been the constant voice of reason and support throughout Chuck's life and she always urges him to make more of his life than work at the Buy More. After she witnessed her fathers murder at the hands of Daniel Shaw - she banded together with Devon and Morgan to save Chuck and his handlers from Shaw in the season 3 penultimate episode. Afterwards she asked Chuck to quit the spy business for her because her father made her promise to protect Chuck and she could not do that when he was off on his missions.

Dr. Devon Woodcomb (played by Ryan McPartlin) is Ellie's husband and is nicknamed as Captain Awesome because everything he does is awesome and he also quite frequently uses the word - awesome! He used to play football for UCLA and must now get his thrills from cardio - thoracic surgery and extreme adventures - but admitted the rush from the spy life was too much for him. He speaks fluent Spanish and French and knows how to Tango with the best of them. He was the first person to find out about Chuck's secret life and kept it as a secret until Morgan found out - but during that time he was starting to crack under the pressure and felt he could not handle it anymore. He is very laid back and has gone to Africa for Doctors Without Borders to try and help out and get away from Chuck's secret for a while.

Morgan Grimes (played byJoshua Gomez) is Chuck Bartowski's best friend, together they work at the Buy More. Morgan's mother and Big Mike started a relationship and with that Big Mike took him under his wing and made Morgan assistant manager much to his chargrin - as he was more than content to stay under the radar as he has done all his life. He has been romantically linked to Anna Wu - who also used to work at the Buy More and the lucky bastard got to spend a night with the fiery red head, Katrina. Morgan and Chuck have been best friends since they were six years old, and most of the time Chuck looked after and protected Morgan from bullies. When Morgan found Castle - Chuck told him all the secrets he had been keeping from him and in so doing pulled Morgan into "Team Chuck", were he has proved his worth on more than one occasion.

As season four looms, with the shocking revelation at the end of season 3 - with Chuck's mother out there and now it's up to Chuck to find her and protect her (i guess) who knows what's in store for us?

Stay tuned, I have a feeling we are about to find out..........

THE RULES OF LEROY JETHRO GIBBS

NAVAL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIVE SERVICE

NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service which is an American police procedural television series based on the lives and cases of a fictional team of special agents working for the Navy investigating felonies for the major case responce unit - MCRU revolving around the U.S Navy and Marine Corps.

The show is distinguished by its comic elements, ensemble cast and character - driven plots. The show is the spin-off from the hit drama JAG and has currently gone into syndication in America. NCIS has also produced its own spin-off - NCIS: Los Angeles and even though none of the major cast members moved over, Pauley and Rocky guest star occasionally (side note - the spin-off is utterly crappy!!!).

The creative director of the show, Donald Bellisario also created JAG, Magnum P.I. and Quantum Leap of old. After the first season he was asked to step down after creative differances with Mark Harmon but has continually been credited as the executive producer of the show.

The show is based in Washington D.C. at the Navy yard. It follows the members of the MCR unit as they deal with terrorist threats and a couple from their own home front.

The leader is former Gunnery Sergeant Leroy Jethro Gibbs of the US Marine Corps where he was one of the best snipers they ever had. He was involved in two wars and has had a few wives - none sticking. His true love Shannon who was also his first wife was killed together with his daughter the year before he joined NCIS - some say this is the reason he joined NCIS. His mentor is Mike Franks, former lead agent for the formerly known NIS. He is tough on the men in his team and equally as tough on the women and has a set of rules that all need to learn and follow.

Anthony 'Tony' Dinozzo is the senoir field agent and special agent on the team who was a former police officer in Peoria, Philly and Baltimore before joining. He is a former fraternity brother and grew up around alot of chicks - which is probably why he is still single. His parents were very rich and when Tony went into law enforcement they cut him off as they didn't think it was suitable for him.

Abby Sciuto is the gothic and extremely hot forensic scientist on the team. She loves vampires and sleeps in a coffin. She has been romantically linked to McGee, but it did not work out even though they still remain fierce friends. She reveres Gibbs as sort of a father figure and is the only person that can get away with murder in Gibbs's eyes. She is very smart and loves to figure out puzzles and with her exentristic outlook on life - the sky is the limit for this scientist.

Donald 'Ducky' Mallard and Jimmy Palmer his assistant work on the bodies as the medical examiners. Ducky is the British storyteller in the show, he has been around for so long and has autopsied so many bodies - every new body reminds him of a previous one - which he liberally shares with the team at the most unopportune time. He and Gibbs come way back since Gibbs's inception into NCIS and once that we know off excaped on a boat with Gibbs and Jenny while fleeing from the French police.

Timothy 'Tim' McGee is also a special agent on the team who specializes in computer forensics. Tim is also known as Probie as tony so regularly calls him. He is a writer in his spare time and has penned to novels about L.J. Tibbs which has created a lot of publicity for him and has brought in a few dimes as well. He also had a tattoo but on his backside - in order to score some points with Abby

She was the liaison to Mossad and was put on Gibbs's team so he could train her. She killed her own brother after she found out he was the one who killed Cailtin. She is skilled in various martial arts and knife combats and speaks quite a few languages.

Ziva David joined the team after her brother Ari, killed special agent Caitlin Todd. Caitlin was a secret service agent who used to protect the president but due to a falling out with the agency, she joined with Gibbs for two successfull years before being killed.

Two other significant characters were special agent Paula Cassidy who died in a terrorist bomb blast and was a major crush of Tony

And former director Jenny Shephard who was also tragically killed.

Just three fast facts - NCIS became a top 10 program in America after the fifth season and has increased viewer ratings since then. The main theme is done by a band called - Numeriklab. And Michael Weatherly has done three songs featured in the show, one of which is called 'Bitter & Blue' featured in the seventh season.

A brilliant show and gets a 10/10 rating in my book!

WELCOME TO THE O.C, BITCH

The O.C is an American teen drama that aired from August 2003 to February 2007 in the United States on the Fox channel and has since then been syndicated and show on various other channels. The O.C was broadcast in more than 50 countries and was the most popular drama for 2003.

The music in this show was one of the main fixtures and sometimes drew in more viewers and helped out with the storylines as the main fixture for the music in the shop was the fictional place called the 'Bait Shop', where Seth worked and also fell in love and then where Lindsay got drunk and all the rest. With some big names like: The Walkmen, Modest Mouse, The Thrills, Rachael Yamagata, Death Cab For Cutie, Beastie Boys, U2, Beck, Coldplay, Gwen Stefani and The Shins all performing on the show to mainly promote their own music. Also the biggest hit for me was Hallelujah by Imogen Heap with Marissa's death and was a real tear jerker. The main theme - California performed by Phantom Planet turned the band into a household name.

The main story of the show is about Ryan going to live with Sandy and Kirsten Cohen in Newport Beach, where he befriends their son Seth. Ryan falls in love with Marissa, the girl next door and Seth falls for her best friend, Summer. The story revolves around their lives and loves culminating in the perfect ending - I think.

The O.C has won various awards and honours including: Teen Choice Awards, Logie Awards, People's Choice Awards and Kelly Rowan won for best actress in a drama series a PRISM Award. The tagline Luke Ward used after he beat up Ryan "Welcome to the O.C, bitch" was placed 83rd by TV land in its '100 Greatest TV Quotes And Catchphrases' in 2006.

Where has the Seth and Ryan time gone to, there was a huge upset to see the 'End of the Best youth Tv show'.

The four youngsters that crept into our hearts every week had to end prematurely. I though the College Storyline would have been interesting because I believe Seth would have met another sweatheart that would have stolen his heart from Summer.
What about the little sister in the Cohen house. Where would she have fitted in her older brothers lives. Ryan's story ended prematurely, taking in a runaway child like him is not the way the story would end.

Overall a brillaint and intriguing storie that will forever be in our hearts.

LIFE ON GREEK ROW

After the Successful "O.C." came Greek, probably not in the same level as the Ryan, Seth, Summer and Marissa quattro but close enough to keep us interested. The Cast for "Greek" brings a whole new meaning of " everyone differs" and can surely relate to every student of the fictional Cyprys-Rhodes University (CRU).

Greek, the highly successful teen dramedy set against the backdrop of the CR university going about the lives of a set bunch of students all belonging to differant fraternities on campus and their relations with each other.

The main fraternities featured are: Kappa Tau Gamma, with Rusty, Cappie and Beaver. Omega Chi Delta with Evan Chambers and Calvin Owens and then the hot female house Zeta Beta Zeta with Casey, Frannie, Ashleigh and Rebecca. Then there are other characters not in the fraternities like Dale, Rusty's close friend and a right wing liberal.

The series premiered in July 2007 and has been extended to four season - with the first three already having been showed, but the creator of the show Sean Smith has decided to end the show after the fourth season on his terms and ABC Family has given him that chance - lets hope it exceeds all our expectations!

Initially the thought was that the content was not traditionally considered as family conscious due to the sex, drinking and sometimes violence in the show but the producers and creator of the show had the intention of it creating a 'New Kind Of Family'. And if you watch the show and delve a bit dealer than the crude outer content you will realise it has a lot of deeper meaning - family can come in many differant shapes and sizes and you create your family where you go and live - with the main relationship in the series focusing on the two siblings - Rusty and Casey Cartwright.

A few fast facts - the house used to establish the ZBZ house is the same one used in the reality show Beauty And The Geek. Also the show received a score of 62/100 from the review aggregator Metacritic. A website was started called virtualrush.com but was ended after the second season.

This is an utterly fantastic show with complex storylines and comedy to keep you rolling on the floor. With a bunch of hot girls and smart guys the show has something for everyone.

KIM KARDASHIAN - DREAM DATE

On the activism front she has joined the likes of Cyndi Lauper, Whoopi Goldberg, Jason Mraz, Elton John, Cynthia Nixon, Clay Aiken, Sharon and Kelly Osbourne and Anna Paquin in the GIVE A DAMN campaign that deals with discrimination of the gay and lesbian community - and the goal of the campaign is to have the straight people of the world stand up with the gay and lesbian community and say its all right!

The girl every guy dreams to date, specially me. Social lite, Model, Actress, Entrepreneur, American celebutante and television personailty - this girl has everything. She has great qualities and looks very exciting to be with - and that is just the positives. A woman like this demands a guy that is probably wealthy and freakin good looking, like all hot girls do. So if you aren't famous you better lower your expectations and stay with the girl from next door.

Some advice going to everybody regarding women of this caliber - for a guy to date her you have to be Cristiano Ronaldo as simple as that. Not to take anything away from all the other guys , even if you get to date her , you will feel insufficient and won't be able to handle her needs for eternity.

DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION

What can be said for this movie except - CRAP! DISGUSTING! REVOLTING! RUBBISH!

To start off the story is not even close to the Dragonball story - I cannot believe Mr. Toriyama approved the murder of his great Dragonball Z series! The following is all the faults I found that I think are worth mentioning but there are so many more that actually need to be mentioned but I don't want to waste more of my time.

The movie is supposed to encorporate the elements of the Dragonaball series thus in Dragonball, Goku's grandpa - Gohan died when he was a small child, he wasn't even ten.

Goku did not learn how to drive until he was old and married to Chi-Chi during the Cell saga.
Now this is a biggie - Goku does not have rage issues!!!!!!!!!!
Evil King Piccolo never worked with the Giant Saiyan Apes - the only Saiyan on earth was Goku and he didn't even know he could turn into an ape until Vegeta came to earth.
Dragonballs were created by Kami - Picollo's counterpart not by seven earth mystics who also trapped Picollo in the earth's core.
Goku never went to school
Goku as a Giant Saiyan Ape on the night of the full moon killed his grandfather unknowlingly - it was not Picollo.
There is only one good fight scene in the movie - during the party at Chi-Chi's house.
In the stupid movie Goku turns into the ape after his 18th birthday - but in the series he could transform anytime he had his tail in the full moon.
Since when does Goku see into the future when he touches the dragonballs - wtf??
Originally Goku finds Master Roshi during his quest to find the dragonballs when he helps out his new friend Turtle who then leads them to Roshi - and then Goku finds out Roshi trained his grandfather. Not like it is in the movie!
Roshi's island is somewhere out in the ocean - not surrounded by New York on all sides and Goku's granfathers house was out in the woods - in District 936 not miles from the biggest city in the world.

Bulma was never and never will be a fighter - wtf??
According to the movie version of Bulma - she wants the dragonballs to wish for a unlimited energy resource when in the series she only wants to find a boyfriend.
Master Roshi's look is classic - he has no hair just a long gray beard not shiny spiky black hair as in the movie.
There is no prophecy in the series - why do they put something like this in the movie?
WTF - the training in the movie - WTF??
Yamcha cannot talk to women - where is this coming from in the movie?
Since when can Picollo create monsters of his own?
The only true thing they kept is the blue of Goku's Kamehameha wave
Who is Shenlon - it's Shenron!!!
How the hell does Goku transform without his tail?
The Ozaru (Giant Saiyan Ape) is actually quite a few stories high not a pumped up teenager with hair
Shenron is a massive dragon - is supposed to inspire awe - not the short tailed pitiful version in the movie!

I cannot believe James Marsters would lend his name to such a piece of crap movie and for that matter of fact neither can I believe Chow Yun Fat as Roshi! Why even try to create a real - life movie if you are not going to do it correctly and stick to the story that has captured the hearts of so many viewers. It is not worth the film it was printed on!!

I give the movie a 1/10

SWEENEY TODD - THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET

This is a review on the Sweeney Todd motion picture adaptation - Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street. This film is studded with stars big and small - creating the violent atmosphere that the broadway show made it out to be.

With stars like Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall it is truelly a masterpiece to envision - okay I might be a bit biased because the last three mentioned are all major stars of the Harry Potter franchise. And the fleeting glimpse of Anthony Stewart Head from the Buffy saga really worked for me.

The story of the movie is of age old tradition - but the violence they have worked in and the musical numbers working together with that are just awesome. The only fault I can find is the accent - Cockney, and sometimes when they sing it becomes hard to make out the words of the song due to accent.
The violence works except for the part where they mince the people Sweeney kills and use them as the filling in the pies that are made and sold to the general public.

I thought the fictional wedding scene in Helena's head was hilarious but that was also the end of it, unless there are other scenes that I am too daft to catch.

I am giving the movie a solid 7/10

HIMYM - SEASON 1 EPISODE 6

I just thought it would be time to do another wonderful post on the show we all know and love - How I Met Your Mother. This episode is number six of the first season entitled The Slutty Pumpkin.

This episode centers around two stories - Ted & Barney's journey and the rest of the gangs antics.

Lets do Lily, Marshall and Robin's side of the story first - Lily and Marshall enter the halloween costume competion at the pub as a pirate and his parrot - although everyone mistakes him for a gay pirate because he is wearing eyeliner. Robin brings her date and learns the basics of being in a relationship from Lily and Marshall but in the end things just dont work out.

Ted and Barney's story is a bit more involved - Ted having met the slutty pumpkin on the roof at a party four years ago - returns every year to find her as he believes she might be the one. This year Barney tags along in various costumes - trying to get the number of the only hot girl at the party and secondly trying to get Ted to leave the party and go to a Victoria Secret party on a boat for which he got tickets.

When he fails to get Ted to leave with him at the end of the night he does what ... flippers Ted off! hahaha!!!!

Heyow another day has gone by - and once again I have something to say! This is more of a contiuation of my previous post regarding the Harry Potter series - but this post is going to feature more on the author JK Rowling and Emma Watson my favourite actress who I think tops the list in hottest women alive.

I recently watched the 45min documentary on the special features disc of Half Blood Prince called - A year in the life of JK Rowling. In which the documentary maker follows Jo around and asks her these very important and random question to gain some insight into the brilliance that is JK Rowling.

But before I start with my diatribe about Jo - I have one question which I just have to put out there for anyone to answer as I just cannot figure it out. In the special effects cut on the dvd they have a product that was designed as they say straight from the books - but what I cannot figure out is, which book? as I have read all seven - four times straight through in the last three months. My question is - where do the nose biting teacups feature?

On to Jo - she started off very humbly - after the completion of the Philosophers Stone no publisher would take her on and publish Harry Potter - little did they know until Bloomsbury picked it up and turned it into gold - which turned Jo into an overnight success. She used to stay next to the Forest of Dean which is also featured in the last book where she drew a lot of inspiration from. Also she uses her real life dramas and turns them into features of her books - like for example she used to suffer from depression after her first marriage failed so she created the Dementors to represent depression in the books - absolute brilliance.

As for the release the last Harry Potter book - The Deathly Hallows. The figures are in - 2.65 million books were sold within 24hrs of release which means 7000 copies a minute were sold on the day of release! Now that is hard core!

One very interesting tidbit she released which I for one did not know is that her intention is that Dumbledore is gay - even though it was never specifically mentioned in either the books or the movies which now that it is mentioned makes sense as to why at his old age he never married and in so doing one can also see his infatuation with Gellert Grindlewald in his young age as a precursor.

Another Harry Potter book that has been released is the Magical Beasts and Creatures volume in which Jo decribes all the beings and creatures encountered throughout the series and their function in the series. The last one she is currently working on is the Harry Potter Encyclopedia in which she is going to be closing all the open questions one might have about Harry Potter with all the places and people encountered.

And now onto Emma Watson - just a few question that were asked during the special features on the HBP disc that I think are brilliant.
She would change poverty and would like to learn some sort of martial art so she can kick everyones arses. She would take the Bible to a deserted island - which I think is admirable. Apparently Ice Age 1 & 2 make her laugh - which I find scary to say the least. If she wasn't acting she would most likely want to be a singer. Her favourite food is Nutella - weird also she would most like to meet Elton John as a music legend also weird choice but to each his own.

HARRY POTTER SERIES

Let's talk about Harry Potter! Now I can go on all night about this brilliant book series and the amazing characters that were created within - but lets just start off on a series of posts regarding the amazing wizarding world of Harry Potter!

I started off with the film versions of the Harry Potter series and in so doing found the films entertaining and intruiging and wanted more. So I went to the books - got all seven of them over a period of two weeks and finished reading them within three weeks thereoff - all seven! I was hooked!!

So I re-read them and then with this new knowledge gained from the books I went back to the films and tried to find the same level of depth in them as well. I was so dissapointed. I feel Daniel Radcliffe is the absolute worst choice as Harry - but Emma Watson portrays Hermoine to the T and makes me fall in love with her beauty and brains everytime I read about her!

I am sorely dissapointed with the films - the crucial - and I do mean CRUCIAL information they leave out and the new stuff they bring in - like the Weasley's home burning down in the Half Blood Prince film - what is that all about??

The brilliant thing about the series is the fact that JK Rowling does not leave anyone out - for example looking at Neville Longbottem - he has been there from the start and started out as the character no one would choose for their side and then coming in at the end of the series as one of the major players in the fate of the magical world. This makes me feel like anything is possible no matter who you are!

The absolute brilliant thing about this is the message in the story, for which there are actually a few. Friendship overcoming all odds and love being the most powerful notion there is - and I like how Jo Rowling brings the things from everyday life and gives them a magical meaning and creating that feeling of magic all around. Because you may say you don't agree but deep down you know the notion of magic is something we all want to feel.

Like I said I can go on forever about these brilliant books but lets save some for next time!

LAW AND ORDER SERIES

Heyow! How is everyone?

Once again another brilliant post from the one & only Albus1404 - otherwize known as "the awesome one"! I wanna post something about the brilliant series created by Dick Wolfe - Law & Order. Now on this show there have been some heavy hitters building it up and carrying it forward and in so doing there have been the spin offs as well. Now in general I hate spin offs - if you doubt my word read my previous post about the NCIS spin off - NCIS: LA! The spin offs of Law & Order are: Special Victims Unit and Criminal Intent and now I see rumours about a Los Angeles spin off as well (which has not featured as of yet)!

I am a ardent supporter of the original - but I am torn because since Jerry Orbach who played Det. Lennie Briscoe left and died in real life of cancer (RIP Jerry) I think it hasn't reclaimed its previous glory!

Though Special Victims Unit - carries itself the leads and supports are brilliant and every story draws me in - even the cross over episodes are worthwhile! The only negative is the kids getting hurt in the storylines - I know it's fictional!

Criminal Intent - I cannot make up my mind. The original two leads drew me in but now since Chris Noth joined and the episodes are split I cannot decide if I want to watch or just skim the episode!

Anyway, it is to each his own and everyone must make up their own minds about the series and how they benefit from them!

NCIS LOS ANGELES

Welcome one and all to another exciting blog from the one and only Albus1404!

Now tonight I wanna talk about the new series NCIS LA - the RIP OFF of NCIS. Now I have told myself to keep an open mind during the first episode because NCIS is awesome and so by connecting the two - the rip off should be just as good, right? Wrong! It sucks limpy donkey dick! The story revolves around the Navy but the special agents get massively fancy cars with the latest phones etc - which is so not realistic - now I know most you wil say - it is just a TV show - but in my mind if a show starts off as strong as NCIS the original and is still going strong after seven amazing seasons then don't rip the show off and make a balls up of it!!!!!

In my mind the only thing that will save this show is the entire original cast of NCIS - Gibbs, Tony, Ziva, McGee, Abby and Ducky to take over the rip off and do both shows - and I mean the ONLY WAY!

Just take the show off the air and put a new original show on - something that doesnt dissapoint!

Heehaw! Another brilliant week of FIFA matches have come and come - regrettably USA falling out of the competion - but nevertheless, we will perservere with another awesome episode of How I Met Your Mother - OKAY AWESOME!
This episode has two stories - Marshall & Lily and Ted, Robin & Barney with both coming together in a beautiful flourish of romance and comedy!
Ok the Marshall & Lily story centers around both of them feeling they are acting immaturely in their relationship by comparing it to what other couples their age do on their weekends - so Lily decides to host a small party at the apartment where they taste wine and eat cheese - but during Marshall decides its too boring - just out a window and goes out in search of the rest of the gang who have gone partying at the new club Okay Awesome! Then Lily finding an empty bathroom rushes out to find Marshall and in so doing descovers their relationship is pretty awesome!
The other part of the story is Robin being recognised from TV gets herself, Ted & Barney into the new club Okay Awesome! and hilarity ensues!

The Barney-ism of this episode is not a quote but more of an action during their time at the club:
Following his own decided upon plan to score with a 'cutlet' Barney grabs a random hottie from behind and grinds (seggestively dancing) into her without bothering to turn her around. Then when she eventually turns around it turns out he was dry humping his own cousin - and in so doing created a new situation for Ted to blackmail him with! Barney will just never learn!

The quote of the episode is a random one - but nevertheless funny:
This happens outside the club with Robin sitting on the curb
LILY: Marshall just ditched out on our own party. Can you get me in there? I kind of need to kill him?
ROBIN: Actually, I can't even get myself in. I was such a dork. I got recognised one time and I started thinking I'm Julia Robert. I'm no VIP, I'm not even an IP. I'm just a lonely little P sitting here in the gutter.
LILY: You know something. I'd take a P in the gutter over Julia Roberts anyday!
LAUGHTER ENSUES

HIMYM S1 EPISODE 4

Heyow! Here is the next exciting review of that great show we all love How I Met Your Mother done by none other that Albus1404! Now this is episode four - The Return of the Shirt and it is all about Ted and his rediscoverance of himself - as we travel with him as he discovers why he left some of his old girlfriends and the rekindling of the passion with one of them - Natalie!
It starts with him going through his closest and finding a cool shirt in the back of his closest that he never really liked and now loves and wears constantly - which sets him on the path of rediscovery - maybe he had already met his Mrs. Mosby and let her go - so on that note he goes out with an old flame Natalie - who in the ends kicks his ass when he breaks up with her on her birthday - again!
Marshall and Lily stay in the background for most of the episode and only lend support to the two main stories in this episode.
Barney pays Robin to say weird and naughty words while she is on the air and she actually consents to doing so when she realises no one watches her on tv.

Barney-ism of the episode:
This happens during Ted's reruns of his previous girlfriends
Barney: You dumped a porn star? Friendship over (gets up) FRIENDSHIP OVER!
Thus proving once again that Barney is a whore mongering sex addict - HAHA!

How bad does one's life become - to be thinking of death on a constant basis? To treat life with such disregard - and going down the road of clinical depression!
I always though my friend that has been treated with depression was just playing around - wanting those drugs you get to boost his ego and putting you on a new road but now I think depression is getting the better of me!
My life, my job everything seems to be getting me down and I don't know what to do about it - I don't take drugs as I see it as a placebo effect and nothing else!
Many people say it is just a state of mind - and they are so totally right but in order to change your state of mind you have to change your entire life and that is what depresses - depressed people even more!
Life, love and everything else is the way we live our lives but in the beginning most people fail at what they do - look at me - I have a college degree and yet all I do all day is answer phones and talk to idiots! I think this is what depresses me the most of all - and at this present moment swimming into the open sea and just letting go seems like a hell of an idea - maybe just maybe there is a better place for me out there

Chuck vs The Pink Slip

Chuck just coming back from a very successful season 2 being that Orion is his father and created the intersect. The intersect 2.0 is virtually every policemen and Fbi agent dream because it exclude the use of weapons and bring a more intelligent way to expose and disarm the villian.

Chuck programmed with the latest Intersect has abilities he never thought it would never acquired so fast but this makes for interesting story telling.

Chuck now the perfect spy has everything he wants but cannot make it happen. The intersect 2.0 is not responding when he needs it. What is troubling him.

Sarah , the only part missing in the puzzle. Believe me I feel the same way. You work very hard to get the perfect career but the lady in your life , to complete you, is MISSING.

Every Guy wants things to work out perfectly both career and love life. Chuck had to choose between Sarah and the intersect. It never works the way we want it to be.

My question is can you have your Career and have the love of your life at the same time in real life?

It was revealed that Dean is Micheal's true vessel but the season finale ends with the dead brother Adam. It was quite confusing to whom the writer would let the Angels take - and what about Adam he is actually an arc angel so is he also out of the Pit of Hell.

Why would McG change the whole story at the end? It was not the Perfect ending and still raises alot of questions - but yet the ending was fitting - as we all know leave the audience with questions and they will come back for the answers!

What does this Mean for Dean and LuciSam(Lucifer and Sam)?

Who is God and what is he going to do about Micheal being trapped? How in the hell did Lucisam get out of hell and what does this mean for Dean - who has settled down now?

HIMYM S1 EPISODE 3

Hey guys, hope all are doing well - sorry I could not post episode 3 yesterday had to attend a funeral in between two consecutive nightshift - so I really didn't have the time or the energy to stay awake - but anyhoo - here we go - episode 3 - Sweet Taste Of Liberty.

So this episode takes place in two places - the bar and Philly - Barney being bored with their usual place takes Ted first to the airport to pick someone up - which in his terms means - picking up a random hottie - and when that doesn't pan out they decide to go to Philly - going after two hot babes!

Crazyness ensues when they get arrested and are held by airport security - thus ensuring Marshall with getting them out - but even before Marshall gets there - he speaks to Lily and gives her permission to take off her engagement ring to see if anyone will crowd her junk! Half way there he gets jealous and heads back - crazyness ensues!!

Meanwhile Ted and Barney get released but before Ted can head home - Barney drags him off to Sacha's house for a party - which in one word ends up being lame! On the way back to the airport they stop at the Liberty Bell and lick it - thus ensuring another crazy story for Ted to tell when trying to pick up random hotties at the bar

This is kind of not right because as we see in season 4 episode 10 - The Fight - Marshall has been in quite a few fights and you do not want to mess with him.

BARNEY: No it has to be the two of us

TED: Why, why do you need me?

HIMYM S1 EPISODE 2

Evening guys,

So it's on to the second episode of the first season entiltled - "Purple Giraffe" which is rather a weird title for the episode but in context of the show it's rather fitting!

This episode is all about Ted being casual or rather trying to be too casual in landing a date with Robin which leads to not one, not two, but three parties being held at the apartment with Robin being invited to all three but only attending the last one.

We learn Lily and Marshall are like rabbits - going at it when-ever and where-ever much to the dismay of their roommate - Ted. but I have to say it's more Lily that wanted the sex - which is weird because with such a hot woman at my side I would not leave the bedroom like Marshall does - but I guess guys have off days aswell (Barney would disagree).

Barney does not feature as prominently except for the random hottie hook-up at the party - the episode centres more around Ted and Robin - with Robin being pulled into the gang at the end.

My favourite quote of this episode is:

MARSHALL: So're you gonna ask her out?

TED: Yeah - NO! I can't ask her out, because if I ask her out "i'm asking her out." So how do I ask her out, without asking her out (thinks)

Hi guys,

As promised, I will be doing the review of the first episode of season 1 of How I Met Your Mother with my favourite quote and Barney-ism.
To start off we have to meet the gang - Ted Mosby the hopeless romantic, Marshall Erikson the ever faithfull boyfriend/fiance/husband, Lily Aldrin the beer guzzling crude mouthed hottie, Robin Scherbatsky the gun mad canadian popstar and Barney Stinson the always entertaining womanizer.

Starting off the episode Marshall and Lily get engaged - Ted meets Robin for the first time and Barney has a new favourite type - Lebanese girls. The gang goes about their daily life as we find out they live above a bar - MacClarens pub and Barney always wears suits. Ted and Robin go on a first date and tells her he loves her - the idiot. Overall we discover it's Ted's life story and how he is going about in his life and how he met his wife with all the longwinded stories that come along - much to his future kids dismay!

My favourite quote from this episode is:
Lily and Marshall rush out of the apartment into a taxi - with Lily holding her eye after Marshall opened a bottle of shampagne and shot her on the eye.
LILY: Hit me? Please this guy can barely even spank me in bed for fun. He's all like "oh honey, did that hurt?" and i'm like "come on let me have it you pansy" WOW complete stranger
DRIVER: No no no no, it's ok, go on. So these spankings, you in pajamas or au naturale?

Hilarious - it's so funny! But it's actually very difficult to single out only one quote from a episode because if I have to put in all my favourite quotes 90% of the episode will be entered into this blog.

My Barney-ism of the episode is:
Disproving to Ted a person doesn't need to wait for a signal to kiss someone - he GRABS MARSHALL AND PLANTS A TONGUE TWIRLING KISS FULL ON THE MOUTH - much to the surprise and horror of Marshall.

Anyway I can definitely see why this series has achieved cult status - just by viewing the first episode - it's definitely LEGEN ... wait for it ... DARY!!

Good morning all, here I am on this bitterly cold Saturday morning on the good of continent of Africa - not really knowing what to blog about! But then it came to me - an episode by episode recap of my favourite shows and starting us off is going to be - How I Met Your Mother!

This is really my third favourite show - after Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel but only because it came after them and I stay true to my fist loves!!! Now what I plan to do is starting tomorrow - give you a generalized recap of the episode with my favourite quote and barneyism - that guy is LEGEN ... wait for it ... DARY!!!!!

If anyone wants to comment on their favourite moment in the episode with their favourite quote they are more than welcome - and I will still do my movie reviews in between as well as random thoughts as they inspire me!

AWESOME MOVIE!!!

Regardless of the name - it delivers and in my opinion one of the funniest movies of the year! And the action sequences are awesome aswell!

This movie must definitely be viewed on the big screen and it is a DVD that you need to own!

Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee delivers brilliantly as the bat swinging - gun toting megalomaniac with his sidekick the nerd who carries around only a dubble barrell (which is cool and all that but still not the weapon you want when chased by dozens of zombies)

With the surprise appearance of Bill Murray - entertaining! And has that hotness factor to it as well with Emma Stone!

The general plot of this movie is the same as that of all the previous zombie movies - this one is just hilarious!

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON

It's an above average animation film - but the only downfall to the overall movie is it's not really very long - just hits over an hour mark!

It is supposed to be a comedy - but only delivers a few laughs (few and far between) which is another problem as you tend to expect more comedy than it delivers.

They use quite a few dragons for this movie but only a set five for which they quantify - which in my opinion needs to be a bit more - quite a few more types of dragons - like the dragon the main character finds and befriends - rare and awesome looking dragon even for animation!

Feel good movie - that I can recommend if you need to keep you children under 12yrs entertained for about an hour - not really a movie teenagers would enjoy and adults are bit of a conundrum. Recommended for a once off viewing

MR HOLLANDS OPUS

With Richard Dreyfuss - a feel good movie, made to inspire and motivate. Richard brings forth a wonderful delivery of a music composer - turning to a meanial job to support his family and in doing so find his passion and a way to help the school community spanning a few decades.

Richard pulls you into the movie - makes you want to become a teaher and makes you want ot learn more about movie - a really good movie that can be watched when you are sad - it will cheer you up and when you just want to curl up on the couch under a duvet and be relaxed.

Definitely not a cinema movie - more made for TV and starting the movie it might not be what you want - but after ten minutes it pulls you in and keeps you spellbound!

The musical compositions used in the movie are top notch - and the ending of this movie will make a grown man cry!!!

My rating a solid - 9/10

X-MEN WOLVERINE - ORIGINS

It's a awesome movie - that comes up well with the XMen movies - very fast paced action - with excellent scenes from all the cast members especially Ryan Renolds and his swords - AWESOME! The movie delivers only a few laughs but that is what can be expected from a fast paced action movie.

Hugh Jackman portrays Wolverine to the T all that is missing is the yellow costume he wears in the animated series! His blades are awesome!

The main fault I can find it the fact that the movie does not stay true to the Origins comic and I know most viewers don't really care about these factoids but to the true followers of the comics its quite commiserating!

Definitely a movie to be watched on the big screen as the small screen does not really do it much justice

My opinion - solid 8/10

With Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston!

Firstly totally off the movie topic - how the hell could Brad Pitt ever leave Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie - EUWWWW!!!

Right - I thought this was a very good movie - not excellent but very good! For a Rom-Com it delivers more comedy than romance - but the timing of both elements work perfectly together.

The crotch chops are hilarious - very caveman - like but seeing a man being smacked in the nuts by a extremely hot woman is always entertaining and well worth the money you pay to go to the cinema!

It's a movie that you would rather get during a cold wet day - you can crawl up under a duvet with!

There is nothing really new - the basic concept is the same as all the other Rom-Coms but it's a feel good movie for the masses!

Jennifer Aniston once again delivers with her hotness factor at a 9 while Gerard Butler comes well into such a comedic - romantisized role after playing shoot - em - up types!!

My overall rating - 7.5/10

WHAT A CRAPPY ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not think enough of the movie to watch it a the cinema - and the other night got the dvd to watch and thought it was a good enough movie - but what a shit ending! It spoils the entire take of the movie.

I liked the action sequences - and I am hard to please - but most were surprisingly pleasing, but what it lacks is some of that sardonic - ironic humour Nicolas Cage loves to deliver!

One same thing that worked in this movies favour is the hottie factor - with Jessica Biel definitely delivering - looking at her almost make the movie worthwhile watching. While Jodie Foster delivers another suit pants look with a gun in another same as what - she - has - done - before movie!

My overall rating - 5/10

Why do people have to go to work - to stabalize the economy of the land? To enrich the money hungry politicians? Or to keep your nose out of trouble?

Every day I feel like running away and living on the beach as a beach bum - with a tiki hut - making a living out of selling booze to the tourists and getting all the honeys! Now that sounds like life!!!
Or even living in the forest - eating the food you catch and find yourself - being responsible only to yourself and no one else!

Every day every single person - hates their boss and maybe even some collegues - but we don't do anything about it - we continue on with the mindless drone that has become our life! Every day we say we're going to quit and do something we love - but truth be told - WE NEVER DO!!

Then I ask the question - why don't we do as we say?? Is it because we are too scared to leave the comfort of of the job and life we have or is it because we are simply too lazy!!

Every person has that dream - and I believe to be truly happy we much each follow that dream no matter what the current consequences - because in the long run - being happy and doing what you love will bring in the reward that you would require!

So - FOLLOW YOUR DREAM AND ACTUALLY LIVE IT!!!!

Let's talk Supernatural!

What an awesome show - between Dean and Sam I cannot choose who would be the winner if a all out brawl broke out!

But I guess if I had to choose - I would choose Dean as the winner if Sam plays without his supernatural powers. Together they make a very good team but the personal problems of both the brothers make it impossible for them to work together for long - luckily for both they've got Bobby looking out for them!

In my opinion the show picks up from season 4 - where the Angels start helping the brothers and the story starts branching out and actually getting very interesting.

I only hope someone kills Zacharias - for an angel he really is an arse!! But Castiel is actually surprisingly funny for an angel!

Here's to hoping it continues going on and getting more popular as it goes!!!!

IRON MAN 2

Who has watched the movie?

I thought it was a reasonably good movie - quite a few laughs and the action is rivetting. The biggest surprise was Scarlet Johannson as Tony's shadow and protector, she looks so good kicking ass - she can kick mine anytime! The comedic timing of Robert just gets better and better and creates a relaxed vibe during the movie!
Mickey Rourke was also very surprising - but after The Wrestler a person can come to expect this kind of commitment and brilliance from such a veteran!

Yet I have a dislike for Gwyneth - I don't know why she just doesn't do it for me!

I would give the movie a solid 8/10 and it's better than the first release! A definite watch for anyone that just wants to let off some steam and relax!
